Is there any particular reason for there being scaffolding on one corner of Cliffe Bridge? It doesn't appear to be supporting anything apart from blatant advertising. I noticed that they did this for about 2 months prior to bonfire night and then took it down on the day.
It has now been up again for over 3 months. If it is some form of advertising, then it really isn't that effective; instead it makes the Cliffe area look scruffy, which is a shame as it's one of the older and prettier parts of Lewes.

It's probably holding your house up, mate.
Wasn't there some strengthening work going on on the bridge at one point when they dug a load of the surface up and announced that if people kept parking on it it'd fall into the river? Maybe the scaffolding company put it up and forgot about it, which company's name is hanging off it?

Lewes scaffolding. There isn't a chance in hell that the scaffolding is holding anything up apart from the sign.

Give 'em a ring then and ask them when they're coming to colect it. Tell them you're calling from the Council or something.

Doubt they'd buy that, one of the councillors is probably getting a decent back hander for letting them do it. It's a shame as it does make the bridge look untidy. I know I'm probably a bit biased, but seeing it outside your front door everyday does piss me off a little.

You could always take it down, subtle like, one pole at a time.

It's a condition of scaffold in Lewes - must be down on Nov 5th!
Might they be working under the bridge and the bit you see is holding it up?

I know about the November 5th deal. It's about 7 poles in total, and trust me I can see under the bridge with ease and it ain't holding squat up.

If you look at the railings under the scaffold in question you;ll notice that some of them aren't attached to the bridge anymore.

Dickie, I think you'll find it is a temporary railing basically. Nice idea Ed, take it down, the rotten railing collapses and your kid gets drowned, that'd give you something to moan about.

Dickie can we have a copy of your dossier on local Councilors and back-handers please. If you have no facts please don't make them up.

Whatever the reason it's there, I see that eyesore on our lovely old bridge every day and agree it should be removed as soon as possible.
