Incredible - they don't accept debit/credit cards and the guy wouldn't say boo to a goose. Is there somewhere better I can go for future repairs?

More like 35 quid - wish they'd told me up front as had to go to cash point and come back...

There are notices on the counter advising that credit and debit cards are not accepted. I found the service excellent.

The cobbler in North Street is very good. Don't know if he takes cards though.

I've had many repairs done there and will do in the future, the quality is always excellent;- surely that's what is important?

I guess I missed the sign the first time 'round - maybe someone was standing in the way? Certainly doesn't mean I am A. blind or B. a tw@t !!!
To me it's all about service - to walk into a shop and just be started at from behind the counter makes me want to go elsewhere. Before anyone asks I don't have 2 heads, a strange deformity or scary tattoos that might warrant such timid behaviour!

Jeez it must have been such an effort to cross the road to either Barclays or Santander. I feel for you man. Did you scuff your newly fixed shoes with that journey?

Why don't the public realise, the banks charge an unnecessarily high fee to process debit cards and credit cards even much more, don't even mention how much Amex charge ! The retailer either has to price that into his/ your price or make a stand and not accept them. There is an EU directive on these charges currently trying to cap them. Just because you've got a card on you, doesn't guarantee you can pay EVERYWHERE . Someone's paying for all those points/air miles youre collecting, if its not you by being over-charged its often the small retailer.

Nice little shop. The bloke who runs it works all the hours under the sun. I expect his margins are probably very tight. Hence the refusal to accept anything but cash.

yeah that guy in Courtyard Shoe Repairs is something else. He is well known as being rude. I've used the place opposite the train station (Surelock Solutions i think) - they cut my keys politely.

I see that the address on Surelock Solution's website is somewhere in Lewis. Seems a long way to go to get a key cut.
You might want to change that Andy.
