I popped in there, it's a nicely decorated place; it seems to be a fairly expensive coffee shop. I like their pottery - though again it's pretty pricey. Should keep the better off amongst us up that end of town in caffeine.

Che did you try and buy / rent the premises to set-up a non-DFL business? It has been vacant for a long time, enough time for another type of business to take over the premises. Lets support a local (I assume) business.

TDA - Is it a good cup of coffee? i.e. value for money. Too many places now sell crap coffee with no need to, the profit margins on coffee sold by the cup/mug are huge. I used to sell it so I know.
Whilst I'm on, another thing I really hate, that is places that sell you a cup of tea with a teabag in the cup. No where to put the used dripping teabag, they only get my business once,

I don't know, I never buy coffee from coffee shops. It's usually horrible - give me a big Italian momma's homemade espresso anyday.

You may like this story JR. I used to go a cafe in Kentish Town when I was a student. One day a couple of women came in. One asked for a cup of tea and the other asked how much a cup of hot water would be as she had her own tea bag. George, the owner, thought for a moment and then said 'Ten pence'. Tea was 15p (shows how long ago this was). She paid up.

Clifford - How about this one. Some years ago two fellows came into my premises ordered their drinks, sat at a table and unwrapped some sandwiches. I shot over and told them they could not eat their own food in my place, they looked at each other for a few seconds, swapped sandwiches and carried on eating.

@jrsussex: yes - it's a good cup of coffee! The place is at last bright, friendly, sunny (when the sun shines....) - the sofa corner is well placed for people watching. My friend and I sat there for hours - reading (they have newpapers) and chatting - without being hassled. The darker side of the place is dedicated to the pottery shop (is moving from the Needlemakers). Ingenious idea, I thought - because that corner was never very nice to sit in.

Brixtonbelle, you can do that in Casbah or the Bus Station Cafe.
Che, I had a look at the Baltica menu and it seemed extremely unpretentious: soup and basic stuff like that.
I really hope they don't go out of business as I walk past that corner nearly every day and it was miserable it being the empty Guidos for so long. It's much nicer to have shops and cafes thriving isn't it?

Eddie's caff - damn fine breakfast, complete with tea or coffee and toast, for around £4.
