Glynde Place listings

Glynde Place is an Elizabethan Manor House at Glynde in East Sussex, England. It is the family home of the Viscounts Hampden, whose forebears built the house in 1569. The adjacent church was built in the eighteenth century. Glynde Lewes BN8 6SX http://hha.org.uk/Property/691/Glynde-Place

Tuesdays
10:30 - 12:30 The specialised tours run on the first Tuesday of each month from May to October excluding July 2025.
Following the success of the specialised tours last year, we are pleased to continue the series this year where visitors are invited to take a closer look at some of the key artworks in the house, ranging from 17th Century paintings to the current day, 18th Century Italian bronze reliefs and specially commissioned woodblock wallpaper. There will also be an opportunity to view related items held in the Glynde archives, including family photograph albums, an 18th Century Inventory of Art and documentation relating to Grand Tours.

Led by knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides, this specialised tour enables us to explore at a leisurely pace the provenance, attributions and family stories connected with some of the key items held in the Glynde collection.

Fridays
10:00 - 12:30 The propagation course runs on 14th March and 22nd August 2025
Join our gardeners for an introduction to plant propagation. This course is aimed at beginner gardeners who want to learn the basics of propagating from seed and cuttings, you will also learn about pricking out and aftercare.

Participants will get to take home their tray of seeds, potted cuttings and any seedlings you’ve pricked out on the day.
