So people want the lockdown to end but they don't feel safe about going back to work.
Parents are tiring of home schooling but don't want their children to go back to school.
Users of smart phones are happy to download apps galore and have their every move tracked by Google but they don't want to download the NHS Coronavirus app.

These are conundrums many people face (not all, but many). Things are highly complicated, so its best to not be trivialised. Which is why we need sensible, coherent, consistent and pragmatic leadership.....and not just "we'll follow the science".

Hopefully more will be revealed this coming Sunday when such plans for tweaking lockdown are more formally announced.

I suggest reading this Twitter thread (see link) before installing the government contact tracing app. It appears it is actually a data collecting app developed by some of the same people behind the Cambridge Analytica data abuse scandal. An open source app is the only way to go.

Can’t help thinking we have a lot of citizens who want their bread buttered both sides. Maybe they need a taste of reality.

A meaningless comment, Sleeveless. Open source apps are very much a reality, often better than proprietary software, and I understand EU universities have developed an open source Covid contact tracer. The UK gov's one could be made open source to silence critics. If they won't, you have to ask why. If you don't ask that question, you are certainly not in touch with reality.

Of course the downside of all this could be the creation of a class of social lepers. Ooh keep away from them they're unclean.

How can you be 'consistent' and 'pragmatic'? Look the meanings of words up rather than using them because you think it sounds smart.

@Basil, thanks for the tip, i'll look it up now - "Pragmatic" :

"dealing with things sensibly and realistically in a way that is based on practical rather than theoretical considerations.
"a pragmatic approach to politics"

Yep, seems exactly what I thought it meant, so no need to retract my original statement. It is quite possible to be consistent and pragmatic, as well as consistently pragmatic.
