This is drivel.
You can't spell and you can't write. What is your point mr green? If you're saying that the Green Party would approve of the recent hike in diesel prices because it will make people think twice about using their cars, then you have a point. They do want to reduce car usage.
I have a lot of sympathy with the Greens. I never used to, but one day a water main burst and flooded the local roads, stopping all traffic within a half mile radius. Without traffic roaring past, everyone I knew said they felt happier and more relaxed.
That said, I'm a hypocrite. I love my car. However if a decent alternative was offered (not the crappy bus and train network on offer today) I'd go green.

Earl - I've never had a car and never will. It isn't difficult if you don't live in the middle of nowhere.

I have an elderly mother who says she feels sick on public transport, two kids who like going to the beach and a wife who gives me shopping lists that look like a closing down sale. If it was up to me I'd lose the car, but at the moment I definitely need it.

I curse at the amount of cars on the road and but to contradict myself, i cant understand people who dont drive (or atleast dont have access to a car). Sure you may live in the centre of town and not in the middle of nowhere but what a restricted lifestyle. I like the fact if i wanna go somewhere I get in my car and go,and i dont have to wait for the lousy bus or train. "Ya boo sucks!" to the british public transport system

Earl - I wasn't getting at you. I quite understand why you need a car and I'm lucky I don't. But it's bloody marvellous never having to think about road tax, insurance, MOT, price of fuel etc etc

Petrol has just hit $2 here, still cheap in comparison to you lot, but twice as much as a couple of years ago. Even though you may hate your transport systems, I loved it when I was there a few weeks ago, and at least you have a choice, for convenience. We have no choice here, no trains and limited bus service. If you didn't have a public system you'd miss it.

The Green Party is full of nonsense, always protraying the world as black and white.
Cars have liberated people from travel restrictions and given them more freedom to chose how to run their own lives - something the bunch of authoritarian busy bodies who make up the Green Party can't stand.
Instead of demanding more taxes and trying to force people to live and work within a small radius as part of their Pol Pot-esque "return to land" philosophy, they should be campaigning to get the government to inject money to advance progress on new, cleaner fuels.
But if they did that people would still have decision making power about their own lives, which obviously neo-facists like the Green Party can't stand the idea of.
