I've fished there for 60 years and never had anything try to attack the keepnet or roach or dace as it was being reeled in. Anywhere above the Hamsey Cut can be really good Pike (and Perch) fishing (especially at Barcombe Mills and Isfield) and the Ouse Angling permit is a pretty reasonable price considering most of that revenue is ploughed straight back in to help make the fishing better. It would be wrong of me to say don't waste your time because what a scoop it would be if you did catch one but honestly, I wouldn't bother.
