Come and enjoy the fun, talk to the organisers about your memories of working at the foundry-family history etc.
There's an advert at the side of the page and there is now a magazine about he area and its artists/workshops/facillities.
Come and make your choices this weekend-houses for the rich or affordable housing and workshops for everyone.

I think you'll find the Santon plan has affordable housing or do you mean more tatty vans for folk to live in. Hopefully in mind of the theatre fire I hope that any buildings open to the public during the festival have all been fire safety checked and have suitable public liability insurance . I wish you a happy and successful day .

I once knew someone who was a painter at the foundry.Unfortunately my ancestry is further afield . What defines affordable ? is it a multiplier of the minimum wage , or a factor of the average wage for the town ( possibly skewed by commuters)? Whatever ,it won`t be a mucher ,as a Forester colleague of mine used to say

There always seems to be an issue about affordable housing , perhaps it could be possible to have housing where people who have a local connection ie; family or having lived the majority of their lives here and wish to build a life in their "home" town. This would alleviate all the down from London (anywhere other than sussex) issues often expressed as a concern on this forum . Does anyone know if the current plans for the development of the site will also be on display at the festival or is it a more one sided affair. I once went to a previous event there and it was great fun so go along if you can.

Shipowner. The Liberals in Tower Hamlets in the 80s had a policy like that called friends and family. Turned out that it resulted in black people being pushed down the housing list and then a discovery that the local party had been infiltrated by the far right. David Steel to his credit dealt wit it ruthlessly made them scrap it and kicked the closet nf out. Thing about Capitalism is it treats workers as a commodity called the labour supply which has to go where it can find work and the best living conditions one can afford on the wage a particular person gets.
