What is it with the 5th, i personally think it's over rated. I have been here 2 years now and think tax payers money is going to a bad cause. All the parking meters lifted is costing us and the facilities to park behind superdrugs is taken away, because of the bloody night when grown ups are dressed like bloody idiots. Also police man poower is spent on time wasters when they could be out there solving crimes, not confiscating rookies of kids. I personally think they should bring it to and end after this year as the ressession is crippling us and without bonfire night they might be able to reduce our council tax!!!!!!!

Why are you living here?
This is a Lewes tradition which everyone should be proud of. 'Grown-ups... dressed like bloody idiots'? What a pathetic response to the hard work, creativity and sense of fun shown by the bonfire societies. I moved to Lewes seven years ago and feel privileged to be here. I wouldn't change a thing, apart from the parking.

Ok, why don't we stop all processions and celebrations throughout the whole country. All celebrations from Lewes Bonfire up to the Trooping of the Colour, inconvenience some people and cost something in tax payers money. Should we cancel them all and have no fun or enjoyment. I'm sure Gay Pride in Brighton and all teh other cities in England it is also held in takes up more police presence. I'm sure Nottinghill Carnival ends up with more arrests and deaths than any other celebrations but I don't hear you moaning about that.
If you couldn't be bothered to find out about the place you were moving to before you came then it's your own fault.

I bet your one of those who claim every benefit going and dont give anything to the community. Hard working people who pay their taxes are the ones who suffer the most and people like you reap the benefits. Go get a job and then tell me when your paying full council tax and your own rent and getting nothing from the state how much it's effecting you, then i might listen.

Well done, you can't come up with a good reply so you start slating me without knowing anything about me.
For you information, I've been in full time work since I left school and never claimed a penny in benefits. I pay my taxes and my rent gets paid ontime without fail. I've also lived in Lewes all my life, and i know for certain if I went and lived anywhere else I wouldn't moan about local customs that had been going on for hundreds of years before I got there.

I could almost guarantee that if you surveyed every household in Lewes, nearly everybody would be in favour of bonfire night and the traditions it upholds. You are very much a minority. Not that it is any of your business and people have to claim benefits for all sorts of reasons, I pay for every service I use. Ironically, it is not your rant on Bonfire that has pissed me off, but your intolerance to people on benefits and your sheer ignorance. How can you be expected to be taken seriously with an attitude like yours.

FNR you should become a new resident of New Zealand, you'd do well here. Fireworks are just about banned, no tradition here. Do shut up, stop moaning and let Lewes get on with it's special night. I'd love to be there. HAVE A BALL LEWES!!!

Yes, I hate the Daily Mail too. It's the Sun without Page 3. At least the Sun's up front (nudge nudge!) about what it is, whereas the Daily Mail and it's miserable readers think they're a cut above.
The Daily Mail is for people who aren't well-educated but think, because they have a few more quid in the bank than the pikeys, that they're better. Anyone with half a brain should realise that the Daily Mail is a load of b******s, achieving sales through sensationalist headlines:
PAEDOPHILE HEROIN ADDICT ASYLUM SEEKERS LIVING ON BENEFIT IN LUXURY PENTHOUSE WITH FREE LIMOUSINE - this article invariably includes a story about how a retired firefighter, who saved 10 disabled children from drowning, can't get a council flat.
My mum reads the Mail and believes every word of it, saying that I shouldn't have kids because of all these dreadful things happening and yet I was conceived during the Cuban Missile Crisis, for God's sake!

Do you know how to confuse a Dalily Mail reader, Lord Pike?
Tell them asylum seekers are the natural predators of paedophiles.

Have respect for other people's points of view...personally I think fireworks are unnecessarily loud these days....Could still have beautiful colours without the sonic booms...
