Site Allocations and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (SADevM DPD)

Lewes District Council (LDC) is currently preparing â??Part 2â?? of its Local Plan; Site Allocations and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (SADevM DPD). The joint LDC and South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) Core Strategy will form â??Part 1â?? (xxx.lewes.gov.uk/corestrategy).

The SADevM DPD will allocate sites for specific land uses and set out detailed development management policies to support the joint Core Strategy. Unlike the joint Core Strategy the SADevM DPD will only apply to the areas of the district that fall outside the South Downs National Park. The SDNPA will, in their park-wide Local Plan, include allocations and development management policies for the areas within the Park.

As part of the early site allocations work the Council is undertaking a â??Call for Sitesâ??. This is an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to identify sites considered to have the potential for development and a reasonable prospect of coming forward over the next 15 years. These sites will then feed into the â??Issues and Optionsâ?? stage of the document.

A form to submit potential sites is attached, together with a schedule of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Further information is available on the Councilâ??s website (hxxp://www.lewes.gov.uk/planning/20993.asp). Submission forms, accompanied by a clear site location map, should be completed and returned to the Planning Policy Team by Friday 7 June 2013 either by email: ldf@lewes.gov.uk or post: Planning Policy Team, Lewes District Council, Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes, EAST SUSSEX, BN7 1AB.

Please note that sites considered as part of the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) need not be submitted again. However, any additional information that may help in a SHLAA siteâ??s consideration can be submitted to us using this form.

If you have any questions with regards to the above please do not hesitate to contact the Planning Policy Team.

This is for areas of the Lewes district that lie outside of the South Downs National Park (SDNP) ? So this does not apply for potential sites within Lewes town - correct?

Andy, that's what it says in para 3.

So, they're going for a Plain English Award then?
100% effective at alienating the vast majority of people who, like me, probably lose interest after trying to understand or remember the first 9 letter acronym...

So we can't write in and suggest County Hall as a prime spot for development then?

Shame.
