Malling Street/East Street/Phoenix Causeway was at a standstill about 30 mins ago and there's a huge queue heading down Nevill Road to the prison lights (actually, there have been big queues there in the mornings today and yesterday, so maybe they've buggered about with the traffic light timings again).
It took me 15 minutes to get from the Swan to Homebase and 20 minutes to get home afterwards. If I'd known it was that bad, I'd have gone to B&Q, as I was in Newhaven anyway!
Anyone know of an app that sends traffic alerts to an android phone?

And the A27 improvements were being talked about when I first moved here. I think I'll be 6 feet under by the time they're finally done.

I go up and down it regularly during rush hour and the issue isn't that it's single carriageway, the issue is the traffic stopping to let traffic in and out of junctions.

@ @ACT: not a biker, but I'm pretty bike aware and I can honestly say that 43 years of driving I've never had a biker "appear out of nowhere" because I check my mirrors very frequently and even if I don't see them immediately l usually hear them coming.
Loud exhausts may be irritating, but they do make drivers aware that there's a bike around, hence the saying "Loud pipes save lives".
