I had to call BT today on behalf of a family member. 25 minutes in a queue, some passing around various staffer and then told by an embarrassed girl that the department that deals with that type of account is only open weekdays . Great. Talk talk doesn't seem so bad after all.

At the end of the day, they are pretty much all the same. Fine till you get a problem. Just stick with the one that gives the best value. When their price goes up, look around.

Today's update: 32 minutes of listening to a message saying how busy they are. Good job it's a free call. I gave up and will try again later. Watch this space.

Hooray! Got there at last. Not easy though. Only 3 minutes wait this time but the lady on the phone obviously couldn't hear me as she just kept saying "hello? hello". Phone down and tried again. Straight through this time to a different lady who could hear better. She passed me on to a queue for a different department. 2 minutes there and another lady who passed me to a colleague........ unsuccessfully, though, as I got cut off! All through the process again which must have been a further 5 minutes but no more mishaps and my query was resolved very quickly once I reached the right person.
I'm with the much maligned TalkTalk. No problems at all with them as yet but if I do change it won't be in favour of BT on this showing. Absolute rubbish customer service.

Have to say I have left BT twice over the years, to get a lower price deal, and have come back twice. The actual use of the service of any of the companies is much of a muchness when everything is OK, it is when there is a problem that the better companies come to the front. When I went to O2 and talktalk the difference is that if you press the button for a product/service you want you are answered fairly quickly but press the button to report a fault/complain different story. The record for me was 49 minutes, no idea what it cost, hung on for devilment but gave up when I started to literally fall asleep. Never been badly treated by BT and personally have never had them let me down for repairs or after sales service.

When my BT contract was due to expire in 2011 they phoned me to check that I wanted to renew. When I said no (Iā??d already worked out that O2 was a better deal as they already supply my broadband) they knocked off a couple of pounds a month and persuaded my to sign up for another twelve months. TWO WEEKS LATER the b*rstards announced that their prices were going up and I ended up paying more than I had before!
