Or try LandShare: ring David Gray on 01273 475480 about people offering plots in Lewes, and also try www.landshare.net.

The allotments at Landport are managed by Lewes Town Council and there is a long waiting list. Allotments are allocated using in April and sometimes during the year.

Those allotments at earwig corner are a disgrace they look like a shanty town, and ive never seen anyone ever working there !! Bout time they were shaken up a bit and worked them better. Especially if there's a waiting list.

The earwig corner allotments are mostly cultivated pretty well. Some plots are lovely. I agree the sheds look a bit ugly but it's not supposed to be the Chelsea Flower Show. I was offered an allotment there but I turned it down for 2 reasons. One because of the busy roads both sides of the allotment (noisy and I'm not sure I'd want to eat veg grown so close to car fumes) and secondly because access if you are driving there is not good.

There seem to be an awful lot of people on this forum who refer to the earwig corner allotments as a 'shanty town'. I thought it was worth mentioning that it's a 'shanty town' full of enthusiastic, supportive and friendly people who have formed a community around their passion.
I'm proud of our plot, and would sooner spend my allotment days with good neighbours in their slightly ramshackle gardens than wait half a decade to to be graced with a plot run by a priggish, stuffy committee that would piss and moan about the spacing between my leeks.
That is all!
