Anyone else disturbed by the naked aggression and abuse from Wealdstone fans in the home stand on Saturday ? It actually became pretty unpleasant standing there and for the first time ever at a football match I started to feel threatened (and I've been to a few in diff leagues, including premier). In the second half they all moved up the away end and continued baracking the ref, displaying threatening behaviour to the players and making an attempt to dismantle some of the advertising hoardings and the goal posts from behind.

Saw a police van rushing in the pan's direction after we left. Anyone know if there was trouble or if there was any sort of complaint from the Rooks management about their behavoour ?

Bella - the police did arrive and arrested the big bald headed Wealdstone fan. In truth, the attendance was over 700 and there were about 10 mindless individuals who were seeking a bit of attention. Fair play to the Wealdstone Management team who went over and tried to calm things down. I suspect however, they are on a losing battle judging by the videos of their journey home posted on the internet by the same Wealdstone fans. You probably wouldn't have wanted to be on the same train! I sat next to a couple of Wealdstone gentlemen who were quite ashamed of the small minority of their so called supporters.

Unfortunately, even in little ol' world of non-league football, you do get the occasional idiot or two turn up. Wealdstone do have "previous" for this, and the fact that Lewes won with the help of a disputed penalty did not help their attitude. Often it's supporters of a bigger league club, who don't have a game that day, that will latch on to a local club. Luckily for Lewes it doesn't happen that often. I think this is the first instance of any aggro since Newport's hordes turned up 4 or 5 years ago.
The main protagonist was arrested. Plenty of evidence too as there are a couple of pro photographers at every Lewes game. What an idiot!
Incidentally, later on Saturday night the Pan clubhouse was broken into by 3 teenage burglars. They fell foul of the alarm system though and were caught red (and black?) handed.

Fair play to Wealdstone FC. They have banned the people involved. Here is the club statement:
"On behalf of everyone at Wealdstone FC I wanted to express our disappointment and regret for all that took place off the field at Saturdayâ??s match at Lewes FC.
Since Saturday we have conducted a full review of events, and discussed these at length at a Board Meeting. We have spoken directly to many of the people involved. As a result two of our supporters have been banned from Wealdstone FC games for a period of several months. A number of others have been severely reprimanded and warned as to their future conduct.
All supporters who have been spoken to, including the two who have directly impacted, have expressed sincere apologies for their actions and understand that they crossed a line of what is acceptable. We know that this action will come as a blow to these supporters, both of whom have been fans of Wealdstone FC for many years, both of whom have given many hours of their time volunteering to help off the pitch supporting the Club in a number of ways. Whilst we recognise there were several factors behind Saturdayâ??s events, the actions of a minority of our fans were unacceptable and some action was inevitable.
Wealdstone FC is committed to being a family club. Our rising attendances, the growth in our junior clubs, the founding of a girlâ??s team, attendance discounts for local residents are all examples of how we are endeavouring to create a club accessible to all, rooted in its community. We will continue along this path and hope that the action we have taken shows that we will not condone or accept behaviour as was experienced on Saturday and that we will take what we believe is appropriate action when required.

Chairman
Wealdstone FC

I like BONFIRE NIGHT, and of course all the out-meetings which go on around this time - and the loud bang at the crack of dawn!
