I have been increasingly impressed with the calm, good natured dignity with which Ed Milliband has dealt with the stream of slurs, ridicule and abuse being poured on him by the Tories and their allies the Tory press.Any doubts that I have previously had about his character have been thoroughly dispelled. Is he tough enough to be PM? Hell yes! I`m now convinced that he is.

I think the debates are helping him a lot. People listening to him without the reality filters provided by The Mail/Sun/Times...etc

Sadly true, Labour have moved ahead in the polls and although the lead is small, and miles form an outright majority, it feels like they have the momentum.
The news is worse still in the marginals, Ashcroft has the Conservatives polling worse, not better, in the key seats.
Let’s admit it the “Stab in the back thing “ was badly judged .It was justified in political rather than fraternal terms . Ed took the Union gold and block vote and betrayed the Parliamentary Party, he will betray England to the SNP as well, but people read it as personal and even our resident foul mouthed sock puppeteer was able to dimly feign distaste.
So here we are heading towards an SNP/ Labour “arrangement“ with policy set by 3.8% of the vote, from a country who do not live under the laws they set for us and a Party who hate the English and are sworn to break up the Union.
The consequences are appalling
Europe –More of it – No referendum –
Immigration- Flood gates open
Business –The most anti-business administration since Callaghan
Mortgage rates - Labour have no intention of retrenchment and sooner or later we will have to pay as the bond market reacts
Taxes – Non Doms, 50p rate , Mansion tax … about a quid . £70 billion is not accounted for and if there are not going to be cuts there must be debt and taxes .It will be both.
National Insurance Up - VAT and god knows what else as we hit the debt wall .
Trident – Cancelled leaving us in the same position we left Ukraine when we persuaded them to give up their Nukes
Growth – Bleak laugh….
Only the UKIP vote returning can save us.My advice is buy tinned food and build a bunker

If he seems better, it's because he's starting from a very low base. But who else can lead Labour? David Milliband is vastly overated and I can't see any other contenders.

What's the point of the Labour party-full stop? They have achieved their objective in the last century: to bring some equality to the working classes.
They have no place in todays' property-owning and shareholding democracy.

So what 'class' (as you like to infer that there is a class system) do you fit into SJ?
