Wycherley's in Lewes are you missing a "SOLD" sign, was visiting a friend in New Malling this afternoon and on the green opposite Bridgewick Close there is a Wycherley's sign which looks like its been thrown there and its smashed up.
Are you missing a sign, has one been stolen ? Why anyone would want to nick one or smash one up who knows but if you want it returned then thats where you will find it !

Wycherley's allegedly (saying this for Webbo's protection) have a cunning practice. If they are selling your house for you, they will get all the offers in that they can, then not necessarily share the best offer. They will share the best offer from someone who is also selling their house with them, to maximise their income, as they will get paid by both parties. If the potential buyer who is also selling their house with Wycherley's puts in an offer that is not the best offer received, Wycherley's advises that a slightly higher offer will secure. If the potential buyer's house not on with Wycherley's such advise is not forthcoming and their chance of securing the purchase diminishes. Perhaps, allegedly, the best offer never actually reaches the seller of the property...
Advice: if you are buying a house via Wycherleys, drop a note through the door to the owner advising that you have made the offer and what it is. That way, Wycherley's find it harder to manipulate the chain.

And you think the others don't do this ! Just remember estate agents , all of them never work for the clients they always work for themselves , having just had a really horrible experience with one of the chain ons ( not lewes ) I would still visit a local independent , my vote and property would go to Charlie

We had a similar experience with Lewes Estates and Strutt and Parker - being advised to increase our offer 'IN CASE' or 'AS IT WAS LIKELY' to be beaten by other mystery buyers, We smelled a rat with Lewes Estates (it was the second time they had suggested it) and withdrew. The place didn't sell for another year! With S and P we held our ground, stuck with the offer and got the house !

The practice described would be a crime under the Fraud Act 2006. If you have evidence that it has happened it should be reported to the police. If it is merely tittle tattle then it seems a bit unfair to publish it on here.

FriendOfAFriend, you are completely wrong.
I deal with Wycherley's for a load of my customers and they are probably the LEAST likely of all the estate agents in Lewes to do anything dodgy. Charlie just doesn't need the money or any hassles.
I am not a fan of Charlie and co as they do over estimate sell prices; but then all Lewes estate agents do (and probably correctly 50% of the time, in the current market.).
I would be very careful about posting slanderous material without real proof as I have had something similar (estate agent "Recommending" a bid, despite ours being superior) with a different estate agent in Lewes.
Basically, buying a house in Lewes is Crap. There will ALWAYS be someone willing to pay more than you. Always! Don't blame the estate agents, there will always be some idot with more money than you that will get the house.

I never trusted any estate agencies anyway, and from personal experience over the last month, two of the Lewes agencies mentioned above have both proved again to me what slippery, devious and greedy s**ts they continue to be. The scenario of the "mystery" last minute bidder was one tactic. It spectacularly backfired when I called everyones bluff. Red faces all round and a nasty taste left in the mouth. We got the house at the price we could afford, not what the estate agents advised us to pay.
