Thinking of moving there:
Is it quiet? Does it have trouble spots? What all the schools like?
Only sensible answers please.

Horrible. It's full of chavs and has nothing to do! Lived their for a year and a half once and it was like deliverance, glad to move back to Lewes!

Totally the opposite of PRICK above. Lived there for nearly 30 years and went to school there as did both the kids. It's a big village so you will get places that kids gather (outside the shops, village green, football club etc) but you get that in all towns and villages. There's regular bus services to all the big towns, at least one decent pub (The anchor) and what could be better than watching a game of cricket on the green in the summer whilst supping a pint of Harveys from the clubhouse ?
The schools are fine, both senior and junior and you have the swimming pool at the community college too.
Love it.

Thank you for your response Stig of the Dump. I think I would get more house/garden for my money than I do in Lewes. And I'm not bothered about loads of shops...let's face it 90% of the ones in Lewes are not for ordinary folks....HAVE YOU SEEN that food shop where the sports shop was......? I give it 6 months max before it closes...

Well, there are over 30 cook shops in the south east, and any chain opening another branch during a recession must be fairly confident it will do okay there.

The decor of that shop is a cross between a social security office in the 1980s and somewhere in East Germany in the 1970s. (And yes, I went to both).

I Live in Ringmer and I have done for the past 17 years. Truthfully its a great place to live. Its generally quiet, however, There are certain parts of the village that I would avoid living in. The Anchor Field area and Green Close area of the village is where the people who really dont care about anything live. They let there houses get run down and their kids run wild. The nicest place for me is Harrisons Lane, or behind the green. The good thing about Ringmer is its only 5mins on the bus to Lewes. The South Downs are on your doorstep too.

Nice place Ringmer. I was cycling through it the other day, stuck out my arm to signal I was turning left and someone stole my watch.

Grew up in Ringmer and lived in the Broyle lane area, as a teenager there was not much to do, but a good friendly village, some of my family and friends still there happy and like the local infants school.

Agreed about Ringmer - it's the land that time forgot and not much goes on, the Anchor Inn has improved, puts on bands nowadays and the countryside around is great. Chav quota is lower than Lewes but you won't run into many philosophers either. Consider it somewhere to sleep but head for Brighton for fun.
