If you could establish a new place near the Cliffe, what would it be? The brewery is there, GP surgery, Phoenix Adult Daycare centre for the elderly. What would fit there that can be useful or fun for many? I am really curious about your suggestions.

Gay bar. Go down a treat down there. All the fags hang around the cliffe. Bum bandits the lot of them.

How about establishing a psychiatric hospital? We can guarantee at least one service user.
Or a cinema. there used to be one there anyway.

How about a 'Charles Style Memorial Arts Centre', incorporating a cinema and live-work units.

Definitely a cinema. Otherwise that end of town is pretty well served for stuff imo.
It's the western end of end of town that has very little in the way of facilities, especially as the pubs and shops keep closing down.

Ah, a cinema would be lovely.

I assume if anyone had thought there was money in a cinema (and I know we've already got All Saints) they would have at least applied for planning permission in the past. (And - Lewes Laugher - Style's proposal doesn't count because we know about his track record for keeping promises from the Jam Factory debacle.) Lewes District is just too small for a modern cinema to make money. (I think - though I'd love someone to prove me wrong).

I agree Rookie. First dance, Elliot in his pants chained to the pole, while we egg him.

With so many other services for elderly people in the area, I think an incontinence shop would go down well

How about a skyride up to the cliffe? (havent been up there, is the view any good at all?)
Or a heated paintball arena?
An elevated restaurant/ cafe for observing the sorroundings( place for the elderly to hang out,not to be so bored, justto have a place to watch stuff, other than each other)
A dry-bob arena? Thats when you dont need ice, but just a rail systems that allows the bob to slide down. I have seen it elsewhere its really cool.
indoors rockclimbing arena?
Any of the above combined w something else?

Head up to the top of town, BB, we have a great greengrocer in Western Road. It's next to the excellent butchers.
We need a decent bookshop. All these literate types in Lewes, and only the crappy selection in Smiths or Sussex Stationers to choose from is a missed opportunity imo. Amazon is all very well, but you can't browse the same as you can in a bookshop.
A really good bakers would be nice, too. I miss the one that used to in Fisher Street, on the corner of Market Lane. They did lovely Danish Pastries.
