Without referring to specifics of "you know what", well done Huw for reminding us that we are all fallible. And no I'm not related to Huw, just one of many happy customers over the years at the Ellie. Lovely man !

Just cheap and priceless promotional advertising for all concerned. Now Huw has jumped on the bandwagon too !!

You obviously don't know Huw then Border control. If he wanted to promote or advertise anything at the Elly, he'll do so without being so subtle. He'll also willingly advertise other local pubs who may have certain facilities that the Elly doesn't.
Shame more landlords are not like him.

I see all the ice-cream threads have been deleted. What's the point of the forum then ?

Border Control, I'm not sure how I was getting "promotional advertising". My comment on the previous thread was to go against what seemed like the majority (not a very good method of advertising) and now I thought this thread was a bit light hearted and the forum could do with a bit of that. I even included a little emoticon with a winking face to show that it was all done in humour in a post-modernist, ironic sort of way. If I was after a bit of promotion I'd say something like "Come to the Elly, we've got over 50 different craft beers, 2 meals for £12 & 3 music gigs next week. We also host a number of local organisations and clubs including regular meetings for Skeptics in the pub, local boys football club, the NCT and NUT. As well as that we've raised over £10,000 for St Peter and St James Hospice over the past 3 years." Now that would be advertising! Kronic, thanks for nice comment and Huw for President, thanks for the sentiment.

Brilliant! You "appear" on the Forum very occasionally and seem very highly thought of indeed. As a fellow Taff recently moved to Lewes I look forward to making your acquaintance.

Shameus, with the rugby world cup coming soon there'll be plenty of reason for us Taffs to band together (although I must admit to a feeling of impending doom)

I see that another thread has been removed, the one alluding to Baxters field. Bit pointless having this forum if it's censored in such a tedious way.

BC, what I set out to do was try to protect people whose life had been taken over by this forum. Posters were ignoring facts and real life people for a bit of amusement on the internet. I can't read through the comments now to see which side of the fence you came down on that one.
Then you accused me of "cheap and priceless promotional advertising" so, just for fun I thought I would show you what that actually looked like.
If I'd then wanted to do the same with Shameus (as you accused me) I wouldn't have said "plenty of reason for us Taffs to band together" I would have said "why don't you come to the Elly, we show all the rugby, it's a great atmosphere and we do loads of wonderful craft beers etc. etc."
I will of course promote my business on this forum when I deem fit. I will always try not to diminish the forum through doing this and I will do it honestly. Other times I will be posting as a human being (see the past few days) but not hiding behind a pseudonym. If you fail to see the difference between promotion and humanism I think that says more about your attitude than mine.
If you would like to continue accusing me of just wanting to advertise I will continue in kind showing you how that could be done.

Before this one gets out of hand can you all make sure you read the terms and conditions of this forum before you post as it seems a little more enforcement is necessary.
It's a local forum about local issues we all live in the same town, if you need to berate people please have the balls to do it to their faces.

I regard you as a valued member of this forum, Huw, and if you have inadvertently breached rule 3 vii, I'm sure you'll be forgiven.
In fact, if there was a forum award for most socially considerate post on the forum, you'd surely have won it with your post enquiring about the welfare of one of your regulars.
I daresay this will prevent you from replying to the request I was going to make about whether you'd consider showing MotoGP in the pub so we can stop being held to ransom by bloody BT Sport, so I'll have to pop in sometime and ask you myself.

Sincere apologies to Huw as of course I should have realised that by saying anything positive about another individual on this forum immediately sets said person up for some kind of slating and thumbs down. Anyway we all know that these mean spirited individuals are just trolling because they have little or no self esteem and the only way they can make themselves feel "superior" is by deriding others..... Anonymously !

Annette, we have been known to show the MotoGP before so I'm sure we can do it again for you.
HfP, no worries and thanks for the sentiment.
Kronic, forgot to thank you earlier for the kind words.
