So, there it is. The worst-kept secret in Lewes is confirmed: Harvey's announcement of its purchase of Lincolns bar in the High Street has been posted to the website (please see the link below). Best of luck to them, and let's hope for good employment prospects for any new recruits to the staff.

Good luck!,
It hasnt been the most sucesseful place in Lewes over the last, god knows how many years, so hoping it will a nice place to enjoy a good pint or two in.
Any ideas as to who will be running the place when it opens?

I have high hopes for Harvey's taking it over. I like the JHT. Hopefully they will make better use of this than previous owners. Only thing to question is where all the chavs will now drink when other pubs are closed as I have heard they are dropping the late licence?

Calling All Chavs.. Calling All Chavs...
I think we should all meet at the Lewes Arms.
What do you think of going there on mass this coming Friday night?
Thanks Passing by..

I used to work at the Rainbow when it was two bars. The problem we had then was you always needed two staff on, one to keep an eye on both bars so during the extremely quiet afternoons, you ended up spending twice on staff what you might otherwise had done in a pub with a single bar. The other problem we had was the manager's fondness for a drink and the lock-ins we ended up having every single night, all of which added up to a not very profitable business...

I'm sure the chavs will find somewhere else to call home soon enough. Would be pretty amusing if they chose the Lewes Arms though.

When you think of its prominent position, right on the High Street and next to the courts, it ought to be one of the busiest pubs in town.
Hopefully, they'll get a decent manager in, do some good pub food and do well with it. I hope so, anyway.
It would be nice the see the Rainbow name restored, too.

Let's call it "Rainbow on High (Street)" ? I hope they turn it into a gastropub, we've got enough of these smelly Harvey's pubs already. I hope they focus on good food and decent wine - something to compete with the Pelham.

There are plenty of gastropubs around for the overpaid to spend their money in.
Let's have another good Harveys (not smelly) pub with good basic food and ale.

I expect Coffee will be its saviour !! There's hardly a shop on the High Street that doesn't sell it !!!

What do Harvey's think they can achieve from this that the others haven't tried already and failed to do ?
Harvey's are currently running their pubs into the ground with over priced low quality food and over priced drinks.
The Dorset, The Swan and the JHT all in that list. Don't even get me started on their country pubs.
Rainbow, Lincolns .....whatever it has been should be forgotten and someone should look at developing something new and different.
A proper clothes shop, a good decent chain store, clothing or maybe a new type of restaurant, just not Italian, Chinese or Indian.

Fighting still happens outside that place?! Thought that went with the rainbow! How bout starting up a real life fight-club? I think that would be a winner. Seriously! Think it would solve a lot of problems round Lewes. What do we think?

I have no idea what Harveys are thinking as they are missing out on bonfire night! Surely with such a prime location they would be foolish not to?!
