Somebody sent me a message today saying they were also having touble posting to the forum from a PC (not sure of browser though) - they said every time they hit 'post mesage' the post never appeared. I've had that happen fairly often and usually a change of browser sorts it out.

That happens to me virtually every time I post. I go back, and copy paste into a new message. I'm using Chrome on a Mac at the moment, but I don't think the browser makes any difference.

Yesterday seemed to be a "strange" day for posting. I tried a few times but gave it a miss in the end. However, today seems fine. Gremlins on the lines maybe ...

It would really help me sort things like this out if you let me know whenever it happens. I can then look into what's causing it and fix it.
It would help too if you send me what you are trying to post
Please use the contact form to keep me up to date.
Thanks a lot

Webbo, it happens virtually every time I post. The content is completely immaterial. What happens is this:
I type a message.
I agree to the posting terms and click "post message".
The blue message comes up "posting message please wait"
The view goes back to the thread list and my post is not added.
I click "back" on my browser and copy the message content.
I return to the thread list and click on the thread I was trying to post on, paste the original message into the box and click "agree to posting terms" and click "post message". I get the blue "please wait" message but this time the message is, virtually without fail, posted.
I could email you each time this happens but honestly it's a hassle and I have reported it in the past.
For the record I'm using Chrome on a Mac, but it happens with Firefox as well.

Amazingly, it didn't happen on the above post. This is rare - around 90% don't get posted the first time round.

Happens to me all the time using IE8 on a PC. I used to assume I was accidentally breaching the swearing filter but it seems to just be vanishing posts. I always copy my posts to the clipboard before submitting them now then paste and re-submit when they don't work.
Also, if you reply to a thread with a spam post in it, once that spam post gets deleted, so too do all the replies after it.

Just to let you know it's only happened to me once in three years, using both mac and pc, firefox and ie.

Hi SQ
The next time it happens could you take a look at the url of the thread list when you get sent back to it after it fails
it should be something like www.lewes.co.uk/forum/6
Its the number on the end that I need

Okay, will do.
(By the way, the email address box has suddenly jumped to occupy two lines and the word "subject" is overlying something else which I can't read)
It happened as I tried to post this message. The URL said something like /forum?5d (I would have copy/pasted except of course I'd saved this message...)

Ah, ha. tried to post this message "Webbo, just looked at the URL after a successful post and it looks like this :- h++p://www.lewes.co.uk/forum?r=ok. Anything different to this is bad, is that right ? " which didn't post, and got this URL - h++p://www.lewes.co.uk/forum?m=up&i=h++p: (Mind you, I think it could have been the H++P thing - I've had to replace all double Ts with ++).

I too was having trouble posting - in exactly same way as you SQ. often happened on firefox, and was using the same technique to repost. The number on the url that came up when I failed to post was 1. Then I couldn't post at all from any computer or isp. I emailed webbo and turns out I had used a banned word (not a rude one). So best email webbo individually as it could be a specific problem to the poster rather than a generic one.
I had wondered why the forum was looking very thin these days with many regular posters not appearing. Maybe we have all been inadvertently banned...?
