Wasn't station road supposed to be closed completely today to finish off the resurfacing? What happened?

Station road is the bit in front of the station , station street is the newly paved hilly bit , 5weeks for fs privateers could have done it in 3 , there are a lot of food outlets up there ,

I must check out Station Street to see if there is any "improvement"
Like the "improvement" to Earwig Corner a few years ago. £300K spent, and no real change.

There was an opening today and yes it was a partial non event. The pavements have been done and this is a huge improvement for those who are a bit shakey walking, buggies and push chairs. I hope we see no more children or others being tipped out as the old pavements were seriously out line line. BUT the road should have been scraped down, (so that rain water shoots down the hill) resurfaced on Sunday. The contractors with the scrapers did not turn up, so everything is postponed. More anon, but till then the street is open and the traders are in action.

A grand re-opening! Was Norman Baker present? No, sadly just Cllr. St. Pierre, who wants to get more people on buses.
By the way, rain water always flows downhill.

Hope they've improved drainage at the bottom of Station Street then, and have allocated suitable resouces to ensure the drains are kept clear, or there'll be one hell of a puddle somewhere by the Lansdown Arms and/or Doctors Surgery every time it rains...
Or are ESCC hoping the run off will just run on down into the Station carpark and become someone else's problem?
PS I assume the contractors have been duly penalised for not turning up as promised - or was the contract awarded without including suitable penalty clauses to cover overrunning work?

But that doesn`t mean my eyes will soon be turning red . The process the councillor refers to is planing the surface in line with the road - that`s what is meant about the rainwater ( probably told to her by a contractor) so instead of P taking - I thank the councillor for turning up

The council seems to have given up sweeping leaves this year hence any rainfall is going to cause flooding everywhere since all the drains are blocked with leaves. Fun times.

I like The Grange Gardens, and the way the teashop has the most odd mixture of china from the charity shops
