Anyone know when it's due to be finished ? I see all the finish dates on the signs have been taped over so i presume it's running behind schedule

It has been known that works would over-run pretty much since the work on th bridge started - when they started work they found the problems were far larger than initial surveys had suggested - hence it was clear it would take longer to repair/make good than first estimated etc.
However, sorry, I have no idea when they expect to finish... presumably they will update the closure signs once they know?

Yep turned the cornetto to find roadworks still. I was hoping it would re-open on Sundae.

I heard from a Priory Street resident that it was now due to finish in November.

This guy Ray told me that he's cracking open a magnum when the roadworks are open and there's no more waffle about cones.

I prefer it like it is - less chance of being knocked down coming out of the station car park.

It looks to be only about 50% complete. So November could be about right.

They're saying 16th August. The original end date was July.
About 20% of the working week they're actually working. Rest of the time they're sitting in their canteen in the car park.
I've seen bigger & more complex jobs done in a weekend in Japan. Germany about a week, US (depends on state) but generally about a month, UK it's 6+ months minimum.

may be quick elsewhere but for me as long as its Healthy and Safe I reckon they can take from now til forever and it's ok by me. Those pesky forms take lot of filling in.

I have a theory that all these public infrastructure projects, despite having "professional" people on bloated fees designing them, are deliberately underquoted in order to get the works authorised.
I know that if I cost a job at, say, £1000 and it takes longer and uses more materials I am going to have a hard time presenting a bill of perhaps £1200 to my client. But the bigger the job, and the more paid to the designers, it seems that the more bulletproof they are.
The Channel Tunnel was way over budget- what will be the final cost of HS2?

Hardly an official statement, but I was told yesterday by someone who works nearby that it may not be finished until the start of next year.
I hope it's not true.
Imagine the chaos on the 5th as all those coming in by train try and get along the narrow footway!
