Firstly, didn't they credit check the people renting to make sure they were safe?
Second, doesn't insurance cover it?
Third, if they use airbnb or similar to rent it out they would have received insurance through them...
Fourth, why didn't they keep a deposit or damage deposit?
Private rentals without checking the renter is silly in this day and age...

It may have been advisable to ensure that the floor was stable prior to renting out the building. The poor little dumplings! They could have died!!

It would’ve been advisable to not use axes to smash the walls open, but hey!

Olly Reed - You should be ashamed of yourself! The Scouting movement does so much for youths, and the leaders give their time for free.
Anonymous - The floor was safe enough for Beavers, Cubs & Scouts to run around, however not for 200 odd teenaged animals running amuck.
…. - Sounds like you have some knowledge, perhaps you should advise the police.
Feeling disappointed with humanity.

Would just like to say I was at the party and know the people who hired it and what you’re all saying is completely wrong. The party was firstly crashed by large groups from Brighton and other places from Sussex. None of which were originally invited. How is are a group of 16 year olds going to get rid of 200+ people? Anyway, the numbers weren’t bad and it wasn’t too overcrowded however then the fights started to happen. Groups of boys from Brighton started hitting and beating up boys and girls at a time and people were knocked out. The police were called however they didn’t come for an hour leaving the people who hired it to just wait around. Even when the police arrived they didn’t get rid of anyone for another hour as they just walked around. I also know that the people who hired it offered to pay for the damage but the scout hut representatives said the insurance would cover it.

The hut was also hired to the children with full knowledge that there would be a party, and going by the size of other parties held there, it should've come as no surprise as to how many teenagers would be there. The hut should not have been available to hire if the floor was not in a suitable condition, this is not all the hosts fault.

Absolute banger bruv, pretty good venue for testing safety to make sure the scouts and beavers are safe. We performed professional tests such as axing the walls to make sure they're strong enough, testing the fire extinguishers to make sure they can actually put out fires and finally used a mosh-pit test to check that the floor is strong enough. You failed all the tests miserably. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves and you deserve to be fined for your shoddy excuse for a building. Love from FBI agent

Insurance may cover the costs, but someone has to deal with all the arrangements, and in meantime other users may be affected by the damage. And, of course, the Insurance premium is likely to rise next year due to the activity of the mindless morons who caused the damage.
No doubt word of the party was spread afar via the wonder that is social media.

No doubt the brain dead idiots who did the damage walked away scott- free... if they have no awarenes of their social responsibilities and want to behave like animals then maybe a good birching would help them understand.
