Who's in favour of Scottish independence then?
And if they left would you prefer an independent England or some sort of union (Not So Great Britain) with Wales and Northern Ireland?

Independence for the Scots - if they want it, Yes. Independence for the Welsh - if they want it, Yes. Independence for Northern Ireland - tricky, that one. England? Yes, back to the Heptarchy.

I hate the scots so let them have their independance, and make sure there is strict border control so we don't have to put up with any more down here. And deport the ones we do.

LOL - have to agree with Chavkins on this one as I've never met a good one yet.
Incredible as it sounds, independence is not really sought by the Scots as they could not afford to pay their own benefits without subsidy from England.

Q. right, they could not exist financially without us unfortunately. Not enough people paying tax to support themselves.

Lost Oil
Failed to qualify for World Cup
Got more pissed

It's a romantic idea but just won't work. Too many Scots leave and never go back because the jobs just arn't there, much as we love the place. Trouble is London and the south east are becoming too crowded so maybe it is time to devolve power to the regions - not just Scotland - and move some jobs there too, regenerate the north, Wales, Cornwall, etc.
I love Scotland - it's an amazing country with fantastic culture and people and if the weather was better I'd live there ! Meanwhile I content myself with contributing to their economy via tourism.

If you mean by that a country has to have a population of 60 million to be able to survive you should ask yourself how - within easy travelling distance - Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Luxemburg etc etc etc manage.

Bunter - in that case: go for it. I'm in total agreement, and Scotland should go on its own. But without taxes from England.

I'm in favour of Scottish independence for all the reasons listed above. Welsh independence too, as they get a disproportionate amount of public money spent on them also. Of course for that to happen, Wales would have to be an actual country, rather than a region of England as it is now.
