Chandlers expensive !!!! you lot who complain need to venture out a bit and try the Travis's and jewson off this world and then talk about expensive.
As for screwfix all there stuff is cheap imported copper and fittings, lets see where you rush to, to pay slighty more but get a far superior products when yours fail.
And to all the tradesman that moan about prices we still put our mark up on the goods so who actually cares, the end user still gets screwed by us, minimum 20% mark up and in the case of screwfix it means we can add 50%.
if we want to go on we charge end user minimum £1250 to supply a boiler that cost us £750 and make out there getting a good deal by giving them discount of the hiked retail price, so to get to the point.......pts chandlers may be expensive but the only reason you whine is because it hits your %%% GREED and yes i am one of those but i dont whine about prices i just put it on the final bill..........

Lt, you must be a complete mug if you think you can mark up materials 50% Most people have the net and you don't need to be a brain surgeon to tfind out what stuff costs.
Plumbing wise there is nothing wrong with most of the stuff SF sell. But as you spend your day waving a paint brush around I guess you wouldn't know the differrnce between quality and cr@p.

I just got quotes for materials for wet underfloor heating. The two local merchants I tried were literally twice the price of the quote I got from theunderfloorheatingstore.com (and for the same quality fittings too). Much as I'd like to support local merchants a saving of nearly £1k means I have no choice but to buy online. Reliable Plumber is right, the day that tradesmen could mark up their material prices are long gone. Tradesman discounts often do not discount the prices as low as some of those found online.
I agree with RP's Chandlers comments. Chandlers will usually beat a PTS price so long as they are aware you are comparing.

Been to chandlers twice in week for same items and bern charged different prices ! And compared to PTS they are expensive, can't beat Internet prices in underfloor heating !! Best thing is to print off net and see if chandlers can match ! There loss if they can't ,

Very true Mr Leak. You can visit Chandlers every day of the week and be charged a different about each time for the same item. This is also true of PTS. That's the problem with dinosaur builders merchants. At least SF pricing structure is transparent Internet traders will always be cheaper than 'bricks and motar' retailers for obvious reasons though it can be quite annoying when you order a boiler off the net, and PTS turn up to deliver it !!!!

Internet is king on price, but when things go wrong! your stuck. poor customer service and slow replacement or fixes.
I would happily pay £5 more for an item if it means I can take it back or replace easily. After all time is money.

I have bought quite a bit of bathroom stuff from Chandlers and got a similar deal to online, together with good advice and I was able to return a few bits I didn't need, without a restocking charge.
