Has anyone been successful in claiming money back for delayed or cancelled trains? Any tips or recommendations or experiences on this matter? Thanks in advance.

I've had a dozen claims in the last few weeks. All done online without a hitch. Dead easy.

Bus from Seaford to Brighton £600 per year. Train from Seaford to Brighton £1264 per year (and they get you there on a bus). Just saying.....

It's not only cheaper on a B&H bus between Seaford and Brighton. It's quicker. And the chances are that the bus will start nearer your home and drop you off nearer to where you want to be in Brighton.

Just apply each week for your delayed trains the previous week using the southern delay repay webpage. I'm up to about £500 in vouchers this year. Also consider signing up for a free trial on delay repay sniper website, which will email you the confirmed times of delayed trains so you don't need to keep noting all the details.

I've found the delay repay online claim syste, very easy. They used to credit payment to my Southern account but no they send vouchers you can cash at the station or use to buy tickets. When I've had any problem I've e-mailed the Southern CEO and that always gets it sorted out.

The Southern Delay Repay online systems is quite easy to use, although you are limited to only 3 journeys per claim. When you're looking at 4 or 5 delays over a week which has not been unusual recently for a regular commuter then that's a bit annoying. They advertise that claims will be paid within 20 working days, but recently I've been waiting over six weeks for payments to be made and have had to chase them over the phone twice, where they came up with some spurious explanation as to why the claim had been delayed involving "the system" - (computer says no..). In short, it's worth doing and they do add up, but make sure you log the claims you've made and chase them up.
