Some 2 years later we received a letter from Checkatrade asking us to confirm that a recent very favourable review of the company had come from us (which it had not!). It turns out the company had placed the review themselves but the only action checkatrade took was to delete the fake reviews. they only check that a small minority of reviews are genuine and so all those good reviews you see could all be fake.
