First of all no, I do not work or have any other reason to mention Prezzo, just an honest opinion.Have used this at least twice a week for a while now and the food and service has been consistently good.Very friendly and fresh and airy. What we like is (apart from two for one on main meals)is that you can talk without having to shout to each other,AND you are not able to hear the next tables conversation.Great food.

Which one is Prezzo Cato, did it used to be the Nat West up in the High street, fairly near the castle?

Only can agree with Cato. Constant courteous service, hard working staff working their butts off (low staff turnover if at all), divine honey combe cheese cake.

Yes Interested 2 that is the one. What made me mention it, was having tried the one outside Eastbourne station, and finding the same good food and service.Enjoy!

I always wondered what the one in Eastbourne is like. Must be the same franchise holder? Spot on. Not so for ASK: Arrogant Manager. I marked the underside of my pizza slices with feltpen the other day when they got half the order wrong. Just to make sure I get a fresh one and not just warmed up.

It's strange, I stopped and looked at the menu outside and thought, 'God, not another one of the same.' Lazzatis is my favourite - intimate, friendly, welcoming and always good food.

Whats the one up the high street opposite sussex stationers, I think it's Arisan but not 100% sure. Went in there about 2 months ago and wont be again. Steak was served with chips and veg, fine. But gravy!!! Lasagne was so dry i just left it. So thought lets have a desert and went for the apple crumble and custard. Well you needed a knife to cut through the crumble. Sugar i've never known so much sugar in one serving, Could have made a tray of it with the amount of sugar in it, also the custard was a joke, well the amount was equivalent to two desert spoon fulls. My friend and i felt like we had a sugar bowl stuck to our palate. In my books it has to be the worst .

Lauren. When I went to Artisan it served Polish influenced food. Steak and chips, Lasagne, apple crumble were not on the menu when I went. Either they have changed the food, chef or you are mistaken with the place

As i said in my last comment, cant remember what it's called but know it's up school hill opposite sussex stationers/doctors surgery. Has a dressing table as a counter (strange).

Yep, that's Artisan -- but I agree with MM, it's mostly Polish food, good grub, staff friendly. Artisan/Lazzattis/Prezzo + Spice Merchant + the veggie place halfway up school hill (daytime only) all good.

Prezzo is always nice, we tend to go there more than any other place in Lewes. Lazzati's is nice enough although since they rammed so many tables in the atmosphere has changed rather and whereas once it was head and shoulders the best place to eat out in town, it's not really changed ever and has been caught up and in some cases overtaken by some of the others now.
Spice Merchant is great but I'll always have a soft spot for the Shanaz. The guys in there are really friendly and the food's top notch, plus I love the weird decoration downstairs with all the fake ivy. Also, my parents went to one of the cooking courses they run there during the day and said it was fantastic, almost as good as Graham's down South Street.
It's a shame the Long Room closed, I used to enjoy going there and whilst the food at Real Eating is nice, it's a bit overpriced for what you get and I'm not a big fan of the decor in there, it's a bit spartan and that only works when a place is busy which Real Eating rarely is.
I've not tried Artisan yet but I've heard mixed reviews. If you get in there between 4pm and 7pm (Not Saturdays) and mention the Viva Lewes offer before you order you get food and soft drinks half price so one day, when I make it back from work that early I intend to go there.
