Anyone know anything about last nights power cuts. I live in the cliffe area and we had no electric from
8pm to 4am. Bad timeing on such a cold night. Strangely our gas central heating does not work without electricity.

I'm in the Cliffe area too - the streetlights came back about 10pm, but nothing else until the early hours. I'm curious too...

That's odd.
The power up in the Avenue flicked off for about 1 second at 8.15pm then flicked off and on again at 8.45pm. I was on the phone to someone in Kingston and they said the same happened there too.
It made my pc freeze.

Although your gas boilers don't use electricity as a fuel, they are still electrical appliances. Electricity is needed to operate the mutifunctional gas control valve, pilot solenoid etc. Also the other components of a modern heating system such as pumps, motorized valves and thermostats all require the magic juice. Here endeth 'central heating for beginers (part one). Don't say plumbers never do anything for free. All work guaranteed, no call out charge, free estimates etc etc...........

power cuts are due to the towns traders excess of xmas lights, cant blame the council as they arent involved again this year.
