That's disappointing, I've been doing quite a lot of work to make it faster recently which seems to have worked for me at least.
I just refreshed the main forum page and it was readable within 5 seconds

What I don't understand is, I never change any of my settings etc yet websites change seemingly at whim, and always seem to change for the worse. Who is the customer here?

I have found it very slow for months. As Godot says, 30-45 seconds. I mentioned it to you before, Webbo, but didn't get a reply. Hope it gets better, but at least I know I am not the only one with this prob.

Which page took that long?
Could you try it again now and time it?

The Lewes Forum page always takes a minimum of 12 seconds to load from whatever device I am using - clicking on a direct link - www.lewes.co.uk/for*m, as against a second or so for BBC etc.

Much better this morning. Worst is going back from thread to red list of threads. 12 seconds.

How do you go back to the main forum page?
Do you click the menu link, the 'Lewes Forum' link at the top or bottom of the post or just use your browsers back button?
And which browser do you use?

The 'Lewes Forum link takes about a second when I do it!

Laptop. Google. It varies from thread to thread. Just now, 15 secs from "The Lewes Forum" to red list, then 12ish secs. to Poor Performance thread. Others vary from this, lesser or greater.

Webbo, are you using Bootstrap for the mobile view? If so why not ditch the old view and go 100% Bootstrap instead? Very easy to make it responsive so the same code can work on phones, iPads and full screen browsers.

Yes I am and I have made a start on converting the desktop site but it's quite a big job and it's more difficult to get the same amount of info in the users face with bootstrap especially on smaller screens.

You've probably already seen but the hidden-s and hidden-xs classes can help you a lot there. You could always look to asynchronously lazy load some non-essential content via JS as well to improve load times.

On 27 Nov 2015 at 9:45am Webbo wrote:
Yup, aware of those and already using lazyload on both the mobile and desktop sites.
The problem is with displaying the content rather than hiding it

Maybe reduce some of the extra bits - sometimes less is more. Good luck though

If it only takes 1 second for you, Webbo, to load the page then I think you're pretty unique!
