Looks like the police cuts have left them with a surplus of vehicles or has one been stolen?
A mini bus in full police livery has been parked at the junction of Broyle Lane and Broyle Close Ringmer, for 3 days and nights.
Perhaps police now have company cars as part of their perks?

Perhaps it is there for a reason such as a feeble attempt to deter criminals? Company cars ha your joking my mate who works for the old bill in lewes pays £2 a day to park like the rest of us and no he can't claim it back and they don't pay his fuel bill. Let's see what happens when these cuts really hit em because I have been assured there will be NO police on the streets and it will be a long wait if you call em for help!

'NO police on the streets' eh Local. No change there then. As posters here have often said in the past, the only time you see a copper on the street in Lewes is 5 November, and then there's hundreds of them clocking up the overtime.

Good Afternoon.
In response to the above thread, the Police Vehicle is parked at the location for Operational Reasons.
I'm afraid we can't divulge anymore than that but thank you for your concern.

Hey thanks Miss P, let me know when they change it for an unmarked BMW X5 I could do with some new wheels.
Easy to spot the unmarked police horse.........it's the one that says "oink".

Sit down everyone....I actually saw two proper policemen on foot in Lewes this morning! They were down by the dripping pan car park at about 8.15, probably on the lookout for villains.

I saw three coppers this evening (most I've ever seen apart from Bonfire). What were they doing? Walking into the station car park with their 'allo-'allo-'alllo walk to annoy a small group of young people who weren't doing any harm, weren't annoying anyone, weren't vandalising anything.

The mystery of the police vehicle parked for days in Ringmer is solved!
It is part of the rapid response initiative where vehicles are being parked in easy reach of bus stops.
This is to allow any police type person in Sussex to hop on a bus and pick up a car to provide a same day service in case of emergency!
It prompts the question, why don't they paint all the buses in police livery and do away with the cars?

Would that small group of young people not doing any harm, not annoying anyone or vandalising anything be similar to the small group of young people who a few months ago weren't doing any harm, annoying anyone or vandalising anything, but then went on to walk over loads of cars around the town? Visible policing - when it happens! - has to be visible to be effective.

I like your logic High Dudgeon. A group of young people having a chat in the station car park were obviously the same young people who vandalised cars 'a few months ago'. If I ever turned up in court I'd dread finding you on the jury.

I saw a young man down by the Pells the other day and wondered if it was the same young man who broke into my parents house in cornwall. Well you just dont know. I reckon it would be a good idea to lock up all young men.

Maybe the spending cuts mean they can't afford petrol for the cars any more. Or were they fat policemen? They might be forced to go round on foot to improve their fitness.
I'm liking the idea of buses being police vehicles in emregencies. You could call 999 and report something if you were late for work and your bus would get there in double quick time. They'd have to have low level blue lights on the double deckers though, they wouldn't show in your rear view mirror if they were on the roof.
