Did anyone go to They Phoenix Rising event down at the Harvey's Depot yesterday. I was discouraged by the cost of entry?
Was it any good?

FFS Quentin, of is not a verb. "would have loved" or "would've loved". Coming across a mistake like that while reading is like tripping over a loose paving stone while walking: it completely breaks your rhythm.

I am beginning to think that 'would of' or such like, are becoming part of the lexicon and to be fair this forum is not meant for formality anyway. it is all fleeting words.
I think your pedantry Grammatist reveals less an ache for accuracy than a need to make other people feel insecure in order to boost your own self esteem. Criticizing people in this way is actually quite hurtful; it is quite brave to write publicly.
Personally I'm always wary of people trying to save the language. Also shouldn't it be 'grammarian' or are you attempting to say that you are a dramatic grammarian.....

Well, if it was meant to be a fundraiser, it had to raise some funds! I doubt it would've broken-even if it was £5 a ticket.
It was probably a good indicator for the actual level of support for these folk around the town.

I'm with M. £40 plus drinks when there plus a babysitter isn't possible on our limited disposable income. If it was £5 or £10 we would have been there. I know they have to raise funds but when you're trying to emphasise something as being inclusive and for the benefit of the community, it helps to make the community feel part of it, not just those with more than average amounts of cash.

I'm confused - I thought it was a fundraiser for those who lost everything in the Phoenix fire? Is it now a fundraiser for the new alternative planning proposals for the Phoenix estate ?
