What's the food like in the Pelham Arms these days?

Not bad - was there for a group meal a couple of weeks ago and would say it's a high standard. Much much better than The Snowdrop, and cheaper, better value than the Kings Head.
In terms of non pub restaurants I would say the Limetree Kitchen and Pelham House hotel are the best in Lewes

I was there last night, as it happens. It was fine: fantastic service (if slightly slow) and food is very nice. A definite improvement on a few years back when it was frankly a bit slapdash.

I think the Kings Head is probably slightly better: a bit more adventurous perhaps? There's not much in it pricewise. I've been to the Lime Tree a couple of times and it's also been excellent. Finally we're spoilt for choice for good unpretentious places to eat in town.

Very good food for a pub in Lewes; unlike the Kings Head its not trying to be the Ritz and serving offal at ridiculous prices.
However pub food in Lewes appears to be on the decline with everywhere over charging for what are simple pub meals!

Thank you very much for the feedback, I will go and try it out myself on the basis of this!

Sunday roasts at the Pelham are spectacular. You get a mountain of food, all beautifully cooked, far more than I could eat no matter how hard I tried and for a really decent price.

And I had dinner there last Sunday - very appealing atmosphere, better than the King's Head. Recommended.

Ended up going for a curry last night, so can't add my opinion of the Pelham food, but can recommend the zameer at the Shanaz!
