I keep shouting at the radio - but it doesn't take any notice - that if we want better services for the elderly, our children, the NHS, then we need to pay for it via taxes. It's a nonsense to think we can have a top notch NHS without paying for it and it's getting to crisis levels now. Under the Tories our services are being strangled. The private sector cannot and should not be taking on essential services. Academies are mis-appropriating funds, where under Local Authority control the funds were scrutinised. How can tax payers money end up in the hands of American conglomerates who are now running some Academy Trusts? It happens all over the place. I work in Local Government and to save money they are withdrawing the people who oversee the contracts being delivered by the private sector, so no one is looking after the taxes we pay and scrutinising the delivery of private contracts. Why is G4S still getting government contracts, for example? Personally, I would prefer not to pay more tax than I have to, but it is inevitable if we want the quality of service we expect.

We already pay enough in taxation to cover the cost, unfortunately it gets spent on illegal wars, tax breaks for the rich and powerful as well as the poor. What you're suggesting is that the middle class increase their subsidy even further for the spongers at both extremes of the social scale. More is spent now giving Housing benefit payments to landlords than was ever spent before the witch sold all of the council houses. In effect another transfer of state funds to the wealthy.
Better would be a thorough audit and review of all government spending and taxation and if the state is still losing money it should nationalise some industries and raise funds that way through state corporations, a mixed system rather than an ideological mess that has existed for the past 30 years would be better for all of us. The fact that there are state payments to private business, such as the new £20 million bail out of Southern rail shows the contempt those in power have for the tax payer.

I agree about the wars, two disastrous ones under that vile creature Blair costing billions of pounds and thousands of innocent lives and for what? Let's also remember NHS privitisation started under his Labour government. He also signed us up to the Lisbon treaty without consent and oversaw an increase in contributions to the fascist EU to 13BN. Next Camoron and another costly, disastrous intervention in Libya destabalising the region and now Europe via the migrant crisis. More bombing in Syria and therefore more money. More tax cuts for the rich and more penalties for the very poorest. £12BN a year on 'foreign aid' whatever that means, usually straight to the hands of corrupt despots.
So no we don't need more taxes.

The more you give them the greedier they will get and the less they will care about waste.
Look at the railways, highest price in the world per mile, worst service in the world per mile.

I've said it before & I'll say it again, there should be a hit squad that picks off the useless work-shy benefit scroungers, doopeheads & alcys who are costing the country billions. It will free up housing for honest working citizens who earn a living, and not spongers, and reduce the queues at hospital A&E from self inflicted injuries from being stoned &/or drunk.

Gosh. There was a very similar scheme in the 1930s in Germany. They included a minority religious group as well as your list, but I'm sure you'd be open to including some Muslims. It was called concentration camps, which they later upgraded to extermination camps. It sounds as if you'd like to proceed straight to the Final Solution, in fact.

Yes get rid of all the scroungers.
How much do we pay landowners not to farm the land. How much money do the legal profession get in legal aid. How much NHS tax payers money do they not collect from people from other countries not entitled to free treatment. How much are agencies making by employing all the bank nurses.
Lots of waste. Tackle that first before you come back for a bigger handout of my money.
