I have just read in Viva Lewes, thats ESCC have finally crumbled, and are going to have a parking review. How on earth did this happen? Last I read in the Express, no one could get anything done. About bloomin' time!

just means that they will increase prices as both LDC and ESCC will have no money next financial year

I think they [NCP] are just changing their name. That's what I was told by the person who picked up a copy of Viva Lewes in the Needlemakers.

Nope, althopugh they have already changed their name, Viva lewes explains that ESCC have acknowledged they are having an unscheduled review. If it had been about putting fares up, they would have had one long ago, and wouyldn't have refused requests by Norman, and it seems everyone else. Am mystified as to what has brought this about.

Hearsay is that they [NCP] are now known as Blackwater since the domain name became available.

So why then is there suddenly going to be a review? What has changed? It all seems very wierd.

There is a general election coming up and the Tories are desperate to oust Stormin' Norman and get their boy in. Ergo, the Tory county council wishes to create the impression that Tories care about what the people of the Lewes constituency think, having not given a flying fig about it for the last few years.
Jmho, of course.

But it wasn't the Tories who agreed to this. It is the last thing they want, which is why everybody had previously managed to get one. (Source : Sussex Express) All very strange.

Did Viva Lewes get it wrong then?

The scheme was agreed on by both district and county council so politically, the Lib Dem's and Tories are as guilty as each other. Few would disagree though that the LDC's problem is basic incompetence, rather than political shenanigans.

It's being billed as a review with an element of public input, which suggests the various officials will do as they damn please, as per usual. It wouldn't surprise me if they left the town centre as is but added Malling to the scheme, thereby adding a new car tax to those of us who live there and adding some hideous bright yellow lines everywhere.

No, Viva Lewes got it right. There is definitely a review, and it is apparently the Town centre that is the subject of it. I am baffled, because Norman' and Roz Saint something kept going on about it but he said in the paper that ESCC refused, the Tories have constantly resisted the embarassment, and ESCC didn't want one regardless. Varous local people have said for ages that it was legally flawed so perhaps they have sorted iout what our politicians couldn't,didn't/wouldn't? Was it LDC perhaps? on the quiet?

It was a Lewes resident who wrote to ESCC informing them of the reasons why the Parking scheme was legally flawed, Good for all of us it was a new employee who was given the task to check the scheme and the employee found it was flawed,so that is why there is to be a review.

Are you sure thats correct? seems a bit unlikely given all the drum beating everyone (mentioned above) has been making, and why hasn't it been in the Sussex Express? surely they would be the first to tell us about it.

Well, they're an example to the district council then. They've never revisited any of their legally flawed decisions afaik!

Or managed to successfully get a Parking review. They should be queueing up at the door of this apparent resident for advice!

Ha ha, have you ever actually read the Sussex Express? That'd be the last place I'd go looking for local news, at least while it was still news anyway. They're pretty good at reporting on stuff that happened a month ago but current affairs really isn't their strong point.

The Parish Pump section is a comedy goldmine though, I'll give them that.

well perhaps they might like to print some news for a change, track this resident doen and give them an award from the rest of us. I wonder if they've heard about Haiti yet?
