If you have been caught by these scammers at Eastgate Wharf, I suggest you read this very recent local court case which found that One Parking Solutions do not have sufficient evidence of landowner authority or adequate signage at EASTGATE WHARF, LEWES. They tried to bully a defendant by threatening a charge of up to £845 for stopping (but not parking) a vehicle for 12 minutes. Eventually the defendant won costs of £528! See the full judgement attached.

Well done Mrs W. So this has revealed that One Parking Solution have issues with the leased area.
I urge every one of the thousands of innocent victims of this company who have been ‘invoiced’ to claim back the money paid, plus costs and compensation for the bullying, threatening , intimidating and incorrect behaviour associated.

The Judge described the lease produced by One Parking Solution as "suspiciously bizzare". This is sailing close to the wind . Also said that if there are more cases OPS could face an application for a civil restraint order.

Hi Scamdodger and everyone else here,
I am Ms W, the Defendant in this Eastgate Wharf case. I am very uncomfortable with my employer being named and I have further redacted my Judgement to remove their name. Scamdodger please remove the link to the Judgement and insert a link to my redacted Judgement which I have sent to you. And please, if everyone could refrain from contacting Sussex Express until the new link is here and also if you are considering sending them the Judgment, wait until my further redacted one is available. Thank you so much and I really hope that this excellent Judgment can assist others and help to stop these bullies from making people's lives a misery. Thanks

Ms. W; Hello. I'm sorry, I can't find a way of deleting or editing the original post. If there's a webmaster about, please do so. Also, I haven't received a redacted version of your Judgement. I suggest you contact the person who put the original version on Dropbox and get them to delete it.

Hi Scamdodger, Thank you for your response. I appreciate that. I have now contacted the person who put the document in Dropbox and they have deleted it. Here is the version with my employer redacted out, otherwise it is exactly the same. Thanks so much everyone for understanding. Please use this link now to access the excellent Judgment. I shall be writing to the DVLA to complain and also I will formulate a letter to Sussex Express and see if they wish to do an article on this. So, here is the link and thanks again Scamdodger ;-)

No not I. My case was early 2019. However, I am sincerely hoping that this Judgment assists others who are facing the same difficulties with OPS with regard to Eastgate Wharf. Thanks.

Hello again, Please could I reiterate, anyone who picked up my Judgment from the link which Scamdodger's kindly posted on Friday 1st May at 08:04 - and which is now inactive, please do not use or share that for any purpose whatsoever. Do use the link which I posted today, as I further redacted to protect my employer, otherwise it is identical and I thank Scamdodger for bringing this to your attention. By 1st June, various entities must produce information to the court, if I am allowed access to the outcome of that then I shall share here with you. Also, fyi it is worth noting that the Lease of Eastgate Wharf between the landowners and OPS shows that OPS only lease the 6 parking bays to the right of Laura Ashley and not the 2 bays to the left. Neither do OPS lease any other part of the land, according to the Lease. OPS therefore have no right to capture cctv of vehicles entering and leaving the land and then count this time as 'parking'. No right at all. Anyhow, I'll get back to you with the outcome of 1st June, if I have it. Any more info that you need, please do ask.

I have decied to wait to notify newspapers until after 1st of June when findings are reported (as per Judge's 'invitation') then we will have the whole true picture of exactly what rights OPS have or do not have for operating this entrapment at Eastgate Wharf.

Thanks Scamdodger for posting the link. I shall still be back to let you know about the information requested by the District Judge by 1st June. Myself, I did not talk to the press and do not want to, but am grateful to them for highlighting my case which should help others and draw attention to the scandalous operations of money making machines who claim to be parking companies providing a service to communities and in fact are nothing more than unscupulous chancers.

I've just been done by them for an event last October. POPLA adjourned for months 'because of Covid' and expected me to be able to pick it up last week! They rejected my appeal today within two hours of my submission - on the basis of the Beavis case, caliming that driving in the area of the car park could be included in the time, and adding that the £100 charge was close to the £85 in the Beavis case so it wasn't unreasonable - blood boiling stuff for less than 12 minutes in a car park you think isn't operating! (This was my assumption because Laura Ashley had gone bankrupt - thought it belonged to them).
Can anyone tell me if OPS has changed any of the circumstances that got them kicked out of court in Mrs W's fabulous case? Or if there are any others out there who want to get together to resist this thievery?

This is what happens when One Parking Solution get nasty. However this case is unusual, but do read the information in the Argus and see the fundraiser set up for the unfortunate woman concerned who won her case and then the parking company hired an expensive barrister and appealled. When you have read this Dam'nblast, do go to the MSE Forum page for help. Those people are stars and do not charge for all their help and expertise. They will help you. .

I suggest that all those who are caught like this by One Parking Solution Ltd., write to Debenham Property Trust who own the Land - Nicholas Debenham and Nicholas Lear. Complain in no uncertain terms. Also write to Lewes Town Council MP Maria Caulfield to help get the cowboys run out of town. To start your own thread on MSE - put in to google MSE private parking forum. Read the information on that landing page - it is well worth the effort I promise you. Put your issue on there and it will be picked up by an experienced person to assist you. Remember that Mrs W's case is unusual and parking cases never usually get this far.

Actually may be best not to write the the landowners - not sure what you can and cannot say in writing to them.. You can though write to your local MP and raise the issue. I know that others have done that. And certainly go to MSE for help.

I see that there are several threads on here about Eastgate Wharf. I urge anyone who takes issue with the way private parking companies operate, to follow the link below to further government consultation on curbing charges and bad practice. Share the link far and wide and encourage others to have their say too. The consultation will be open again soon. At the last phase of the consultation private parking companies got their buddies to flood the government site and speak in favour of their - shall we say - less than straightforward activities. Of course this was a no brainer - it was picked up for what it was.
This link is just one way to get our voices heard where it matters. We can make changes for the better.

Thank you Peter Perker and Einstein - really appreciate your support.
Particularly helpful to know they appealed in Mrs W's case, I've read the notes which couldn't be more scathing (and hilarious), my god OPS have a nerve - and the humility of Genghis. If Maria Caulfield is doing nothing about this I very much doubt my little case will be of interest. She should be following up on the judge's invitations for OPS's solicitors, the BPA, the solicitors who produced the immensely flawed lease (Mayo Wynne Baxter), and the Debenham trustees to present the reuested evidence to the court. In the meantime I'm down to 24 hours to pay up or get a massive stain on my creitworthiness so guess what - I'm going to pay. This is something we may not consider; that companies such as this have the power ultimately to ensure you don't get access to all kinds of financial instruments that are crucial. These operators are thugs. Who thinks that's an okay state of affairs?
I will of course make my complaints with a due sense of impotence. Only forums such as this make a dent in the despair! Keep it up.
