Hi all,
I have an oil painting by Claude Prescott called Cheyne Walk and the dimensions I believe are 16 inches by 20 inches. I do not think it is a copy as you can see the brush strokes and feel them. I will attach some pictures and if anyone could tell me how much it could fetch at an auction it would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks

Call Bonham’s. They have an office in Hove where they can value it, and check its provenance.

Auction guide price would be £300-£500.
If two or more people want it on the day then you might get over £500. If it’s a sole bidder, £300 or less if no reserve.

Why dont you just take it into an actual auction house and ask them directly . If you live in or around Lewes i would highly recommend Gorringes in North Street .

That might, and I say that cautiously, be a previously unknown work by the artist. He has done a number in the Cheyne Walk series but this one doesn't appear to be listed in any catalogues. Bonhams have a valuation day in Hove on the 30th January and if you don't make contact sooner, I suggest you take it then. It would be helpful if you could give some recent history such as how you came by the painting, has anyone else valued it / confirmed its provenance etc.
