Sorry to bring it up again. But it is Wednesday night and we are having to sit and listen to repeated use of the words F**K and C**T and screaming kids. The waste bin is currently being pushed along South Street without being used for it's real purpose.
Who is in control of this?? It maybe only be three hours long, once a week, but it is a major disturbance.
These kids need to be controlled by whoever is in charge.

Why not go out and have a word with them? If they really misbehave, you can call the police. Moaning on here will do no good.

The going out and having a word has been done many times. You get told to F**k OFF and calling the Police. They will send a wet behind the ears PCSO Who has all the powers of a crushed slug, pointless.

Whinger please what do you hope to achieve by bringing it up again. Go out there ask them to keep it clean and quiet, go inside and speak to youth worker in charge.
On 25 Nov 2009 at 8:10pm Whinger wrote:
Done that as well, problem is they are not youth workers. They are volunteers, who are not that much older than the kids in there. They are not interested either. It is not a youth club it is a drop in Cafe, is the answer you get.
The out come I want is for the people in this town to see that although this place may be a great asset, it is currently being run very badly.

How about offering to help out. Infiltrate from the inside so to speak.

Why not get the local police community support/town liaison group involved and get the nutty wizard volunteers together as well with local residents - then all can work out an amicable solution.

Frak's right and so's Brixtonbelle. They are decent kids who are trying it on and it's worth turning things round before they get even more out of hand. Maybe the drop in cafe needs to be a bit more proactive. Anyway, if you are on the insde, you'll be doing something rather than getting angry all the time.

Keep phoning the police every week, stop moaning on here about it. Or are you just waiting for someone else to do something about it?

You need to go above the hapless volunteers to whoever owns and runs the place, there are many things whiah can be done to manage behaviour. I have said this before but they can keep kids out for an hour, a week a year IF they want to. If the kids enjoy going there they will comply. They can withdraw priviledges inside the club, stop offenders from taking part in favoured activities. Behaviour can be controlled. You can get in touch with the council, they can't just operate without someone allowing them to do so.
If enough residents put pen to paper, rather than make hollow complaints, something can be done. Also, keep a record of incidents so that you have evidence when complaining. If they're the sort of kids that turn up to a youth club and aren't hanging round the pub, then you can work on behaviour.

Whinger- exactly that, turn your TV up or put classic FM on a little louder than you usually do. 3 hours a week can not really be that awful for you, I live a little further down near the pubs and I don't complain because everytime they close all the drunken adults come out and make lot's of noise (including swearing etc.). You just sound like a kill-joy whos got nothing better to do than complain, y not go out and do something on a wednesday night, Lewes always has groups etc choirs, yoga, Lewes operatic society etc etc etc. Simply get a life!!!!

As a former visitor of the Nutty Wizard i would like to add that they are not all chavs.. also they are between the ages of 12 - 18.. im guessing (whinger) that you are a fully grown adult? and you are intimidated but a bunch a pubecent teenagers? if its really agrovating you that much DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. when you were a kid.. do you remember those adults who were always complaining about kids playing in the street? yeh the type that make you think "lighten up, we're enjoying ourselves.. we dont waste our time moaning" do you remember how annoying that was?? Well thats you now.. they are probably as annoyed at you for stopping them from having fun as you are at them for having fun.
Dont waste all your time moaning and groaning about such inconvenient things

i am a volunteer at the nutty and yes the kids swaer and muck around but we are not there parents we cant tell them what they cant and can do. we can only ask them to come inside and mess around.
we have never had a lewes resident come in and ask us to turn the music down in there and ask the children to quiten down out side if they go out of the cafe.
i am only 4 years older than the children that go there i am 18. if a resident asked us to try and keep them swearing to a minimum and get them to respect the residents then we would have a word with them .
if they do not comply with the rules that are already set then they get banned for a period of time.
as i say we are not there parents.
and whinger stop compplaining and do something useful if you think you can do i better job than the volunteers there come and volunteer and see how hard our job really is and stop complaining on here!

my son goes there and likes it, i have no complaints, its typical of whinging 'not in my back yard residents' having a go at kids i agree with nutty wizard volunteer, if you dont like what they do there (and they do it for free) then maybe you should go and help out.
keep up the good work Nutty Wizard.

thanks for your comment moi. i am 19 and i volunteer i went there when i was younger and they helped me out with quite a few things and help me do the right things in life. so i chose to go back there and become a volunteer and help the kids like they helped me in the past if whinging if you do not like it come along and find out what we do there and stop moaning about the kids. it is a charity run cafe people would not fund it if they did not like the things we do there with the kids
