Just to report back to the people on this forum who were kind enough to offer advice about the parking ticket I contested. Though I wrote several times to ESCC I got nowhere, and they eventually sent me the Notice to Owner. I contested the ticket again on this, and this time they waived the fine, acknowledging that I had genuinely tried to comply with the parking rules. Am relieved. Thanks all for your help.

Well done!
I am about to go to tribunal for a ticket received whilst loading tools into my vehicle (and parked in a loading bay). I'm not too hopeful.

Thanks MC and really good luck with yours. I wouldn't normally say, here's hoping for a victory for common sense, as it's just a bit too Daily Mail, but really hope they do see sense anyway.

Some may recall my being caught speeding last December. I went for the Speed Awareness Course option, which for those not familiar is to pay £85 instead of the obligatory £65 fine. The course was 4hrs in length but I do not now have points on my licence or a recorded offence. Well worth the additional £20. I am told the course is not an option for those with multiple points or a poor driving record.

I've read about these courses. Apart from the penalty points saving, did you gain anything from the course itself?

To be honest very little and I did go with an open mind willing to learn. Much of what they say is a mixture of driving experience and common sense, so if you have a lot of miles under your belt you will know it, albeit we all take the odd liberty. The difference is, I think, some of us know when we are doing wrong and acknowledge it whereas others just do not know, or care, that they are endangering lives. One biker was particularly ignorant of how he should ride responsibly. There were a small minority of drivers attending who were on another planet as far as the rules of the road go, mostl;y in the lower age bracket.

I got a ticket whilst loading up my car with tools after Installing a radiator in a building in central Lewes. It took me five minutes between one load and the next (three stories to carry tools and a short phone call). Despite having a sign on the window I came down fully laden with power tools to find a warden writing out a ticket. He advised I appeal and looked after my tools whilst I went to get another lot.

I contested the ticket and was about to go to tribunal. I requested a copy of the attendants notebook for my evidence, expecting him to have recorded that I'd come downstairs with my tools. He hadn't so my case was destroyed. When I rang the ESCC parking dept to ask what I should do they asked that I sent them a copy of the invoice for the radiator. I did this and two days later they told me the case had been dropped and the PCN voided.

I was a bit surprised to say the least.
