Why? Loads of special trains after bonfire.
Are the Organisers not liaising with Southern?
If not, why not?

Old mayor - the exit and re entry issue has been resolved, people are free to come and go at will. (See other threads).
The lack of trains is worrying though. There may be a lot of people sleeping rough in Lewes that night. Good opportunity for someone to set up a minibus service to Brighton ?

Extra - there have been no special bonfire trains for the last two years in order to keep the numbers coming to Lewes down. Equally there were no extra trains on New Year's eve, why should there be for the ultimate DFL fest?

Trains and bonfire , don't get me started , no special ones just every 10 mins , they say is health and safety , as they now people will be at the stations it's better to transport them than turn them away , I've no idea of the last train times away from lewes to London or Brighton on either day , but I'm sure the police won't be happy with thousands of people in gig going state to be left here , to queue at the charcoal gril for left overs ,

So the rail companies get massive subsidies from the taxpayer and then, when an opportunity comes to increase their revenue, they don't.

There's meant to be a 12.18 to Brighton on both nights.
Many older threads about this though.
Tickets are £2 million now with change if that's what you mean.

Well with £2 million plus you'd think the mumford cartel & their promoters could afford a decent website so people could keep up to date without posting on the Lewes Forum for train times etc etc!

It's there website and email that says no trains.
Original press keeps banging on bout 5 mins from stations. No cars needed.
Looks silly now.

I suppose the rail companies won't pay the overtime for the staff AND cleaners, bet your bottom dollar NCP will be fully staffed to catch those 'illegaly' parked though !!

I rarely go into Brighton by train but I believe the train service is pretty good as long as you don't want to come back to Lewes after about 11.35pm when the service seems to just stop. They're approximately every 10 mins before that time though. I think the bus is the same times give or take a few mins.

There was no prob until there was an email saying no trains sent to ticket holders after show.

The power of the mumfords eh!
They can make trains disappear!
I suppose its the Rail Company just don't want the hassle.
Its not right if its timetabled though.

The public has subsidised the railways since the first world war; and so if trains are needed they should be run. We do not want polluting minibuses or taxis clogging our roads and upsetting sleep into the early hours.
Extra trains ARE put on for bonfire night, even if not advertised; we should do the same for Mumford fans.

So, you've got 25,000 extra people in Lewes for two days, plus residents, visitors.
etc. To me the transport infrastructure is generally poor, with only Malling Brooks and Spring Barn Farm (access from the C7!) for additional parking. No additional buses or trains. I think there may be trouble ahead.

Jenny 'Starstruck' Rowlands may recall what happened when this very problem arose in Brighton, because the Council she was working for at the time, failed to react to predict the problems caused by thousands of fans attending a Fat Boy Slim gig on the beach. Obviously the two events are not the same, but has she learned nothing from the mess that caused, with loads of people rough sleeping etc etc? This should have been sorted out when the License was issued. It is the town that gets lumbered with any costs of the problem, not the event organisers.
