Has our council just run out of ideas and so thought they would throw darts at a map to create new spaces?
Why put one out side of a carpark (the needlemakers) that lane WAS for cars to pull out of the line of traffic to allow other cars past! Well done council
I like the way they crammed extra spaces in at the bottom of the avenue your not normally allow to park that close to a corner! AND WHY CHANGE SOUTHOVER HIGH STREET you'll never improve the traffic flow along there, if anything it's now worst!
Has any one else found new parking spaces as I'm in the process of writing a letter.

I am sure that the council employed some consultants at a massive cost and then followed their advice without thinking of the consequences. Obviously if they disagreed with the results they could be accused of wasting money!!!!
PS I really don't think that your letter will make any difference.

They employ consultants cos the idiots don't live here and have no idea about traffic flows and silly places to put new spaces etc. I'd also like to add the new spaces on mayhew way. Thats sure to be fun what with the increasing traffic backlog going that way trying to avoid the huge queues generated by the soon to be bridgebuilding on the a27

It's not complaining to point out the idiocy for the siting of certain new parking bays. It's going to create more blockages which in turn will back up and create even more blockages where there are none now. It shows a complete lack of knowledge of the situation. But nothing surprises me when a cash cow is concerned.

For the record, Southover High Street has the second highest pollution levels after Fisher Street, thats why parking spaces were moved. The theory is that the less time traffic spends in any one location, the lower the pollution emitted (vehicles being the same of course) (and the Parisians ignore this theory im summer...). The 20mph signs everywhere are just a cheap sop so that ESCC can say they are 'pedestrian friendly' and move the blame onto the police for lack of enforcement.

Write to John Robbins at ESCC with your comments. It does have an effect.
I think that Owen Willaims are the consultants. They are based in Brooks Road. However they seem to have a odd way off measuring things. Sometimes I feel they use a different length metre to the rest of us.

does anybody know what the ratio of permits to parking spaces is? i.e. Presumably they issue more permits in each zone than there are spaces, or am i just being sceptical...?

Not too sure about the exact ratio in Lewes but in Brighton it was 1.8 permits per space.
