One of my colleagues usually parks all day near the Snowdrop for £1.20. From today (new charges) the daily fee is now a whopping £6.00.
How many employees and visitors will find this increase unaffordable and how many businesses will suffer as a direct result?

I can't see how NCP and the council can possibly justify that kind of increase, but hey, they've been doing it everywhere: seen how much it costs to park in Brighton these days?. The council simply throws a few sounbites like "sustainability", "Climate Change" and "inclusiveness" around and NCP are allowed to rake in the loot - except for County Hall car park (of course). I expect it's a response to digging up the Cliffe and to cash in on the people who will be displaced.
BTW to those who say "take public transport" or whatever, that's fine, but as long as walk-on rail fares remain at a heavy premium for peak time travel and local bus services continue to reduce in quality and raise in price[1], it's not an option for many people on lower incomes. If they want more people to cycle, it might be an idea to provide more than 2 bike racks in the precinct. Personally, I just think they're being greedy.
[1] Landport to Town service reduced from 3 per hour to 2 for most of the day. Fare increase at the same time from £1.20 to £1.30(!) single. That's one I know about. I've no doubt there's more.

I think it is absolutely disgraceful the way the charges keep rising, now to a completely unaffordable level. If East Sussex County Council want to drive out customers, visitors and businesses, from Lewes, they are succeeding. Soon Lewes will be a ghost town, then I expect they will react, but it will be too late. Action needs to be taken now to stop this lunacy.

Hurray a victory for the forum, The machines were set wrong and now thanks to the Forum they have been corrected.
Were they set wrong on purpose though? can the parking scheme be brought down through this? Can people get a refund if they paid the £6 and have the tickets to prove it?
And how many more have been set wrong with incorrect stickers on stating how much must be paid?

lol.... Not really that was a bad mistake and no doubt will be reported in the next Sussex Express and will damage NCPs already tarnished reputation. NCP must refund any monies they have taken from the public, the only thing is that personally I wouldn't park in an area where the rate has gone up by 500%. However if people have paid that in good faith, than I would expect them to get their money back.

They are £6.00 per day from £1.20 how are they justifying such a rise. What are they proposing to spend this inreased tariff on, Council Bod do you know what the score is.

We heard all this drivel when parking charges were introduced in Brighton.
It will kill the town.
It will become a ghost town.
Nobody will come and visit.
It aint happened there and it wont happen in Lewes.

Having rechecked with NCP and the council the council has hiked the price up this apparently is to stop people parking all day. the local folk in south st have complained that there visitors have no where to park so they made all of south st part of the commercial zone That is why we have had a huge price rise so it costs the same to park in south st as it does in the high st shocking in it.
NCP has no control over the cost of parking this is set by the council they only collect it and bank it for the council.

If they don't want people to park all day, why do they provide a daily rate?
As for residents of South Street complaining that their visitors cannot park - what about the residents (let alone their visitors) of zones B & D who frequently are unable to park anywhere near their homes as these two zones are dangerously oversubscribed?
Let's remember - this was introduced as a "Residents Parking Scheme".

Does anyone know of a way to find out the owner of a cell phone if you know their number? I see many sites for reverse lookups for cell phones but they charge almost 100 bucks.
All of the free reverse phone number sites have a fee after you put in the phone number. Anywho.com or whitepages.com or any of that stuff does not work since you have to pay to get a report.
Are there any ACTUAL free ones out there?
