Anyone know why the Nevill Crescent green is basically a big hole in the ground? Was there once a large building there??

Why are you interested Dr Nosey?? As far as I remember theres never been any buildings there. There was an Electricity station down there but all trace of that has now sadly been removed.... (it used to make a fantactic Goal)

Just curious, I lived the first 30 years of my life up the Nevill until recently when I defected to Malling...I remember the sub station, we used to pretend it was haunted!!

I don't think its a bomb site. There's a picture in the Lewes war time book (forget what its called) showing the green being dug for a shelter.
Don't know how the hole came about but I've always thought it might have been dug for top soil to level the ground when building the estate.
