on the 22 June 2015 the County Council is proposing to revisit the Malling 20mph scheme. Under the revised proposals there would now be a West Malling and an East Malling (where the sentry posts will be is unclear). More money to be spent unnecessarily no doubt while other services are being cut.

So presumably traffic levels, traffic speeds, and/or excessive speeds etc , can easily be apportioned only to specific roads within either the proposed "East" or "West" Malling zone then...
Funny, I see no noticeable difference in traffic behaviour or speeds whichever part of Malling I am in...
If not, then why even consider treating them as two seperate "zones"?
Unless they are going to leave a higher speed limit along a central "through route", wth lower limits off to either side?
Sounds like someone in ESCC has got time on their hands, or is into job creation/justification to me... Surely it would be cheaper and simpler to treat Malling as a single zone with a common blanket 20mph zone - it's not as if there is one heavily industrialised and on heavily residential area is it, and the only real "through route" is so short that a 20mph limit will add barely any more time to a journey along it than would a 30mph limit?
Bring on Checkpoint Charlie and an episode of wall building.... will non-residents be able to move freely between the two zones, or will we need entry visas?

Sounds to me like it's yet another sneaky attempt to impose the resident's parking tax by the back door. If they get you used to the idea that you will now be living in a "zone", paying for the priviledge to park "in the zone" is the logical next step.

More importantly, they should be looking at a scheme to stop people working at the Police HQ from clogging up the streets with their cars all day. It makes life very difficult for tradesmen and care workers to operate in this area.

East and West?! Clearly they're not from round here, everyone knows it's Old and New Malling. Or alternatively Old Malling and Buy to Let Malling?!

careful Sussex Jim ,, else you'll end up with residents parking one car one house and then end up paying if you have another car...
The speed restrictions in Landport seem to reflect a Min speed of 20mph No change here waste of money<. I did suggest remodeling of one way in landport and blocking landport rd off to allow a safer green for the kids but no they wanted road sign
