It doesn't really matter as it is bound to be renewed.
Bank handers etc!!!
People have been moaning about NCP in Brighton for ages but when it was time for contract renewal guess who got it?

NCP are not the problem. They were offered new business and took it, and with a govt contract they would have been justified in thinking the potential was there for a lot more business from the same source. Thousands of companies are taking advantage of the govt's outsourcing fad.
The problem, as others have already said, is that ESCC have pushed an unwanted new tax generator on citizens of, and visitors to, Lewes. It's not needed and not wanted. Residents and small traders are worst affected since supermarket parking is still free. I believe that in fact it was a central govt dictat that more or less insisted local councils introduce CPZs to generate money they were no longer getting from national coffers.
With a new car park planned in the Phoenix devt, watch other car-parks in Lewes vanish under more blocks of flats - just to be sure there is always a shortage of parking spaces.

I am reminded of the computer God game called SimCity. As I remember if you taxed the little inhabitants to much as you built your city they rebelled and tore your city down.
I think with the up coming green taxes, road taxes, huge hikes in Council tax etc, unless the Govt reduce other taxes to compensate then people are going to start to have had enough.
Mind you, the new generation seem to be a very malleable and powerless lot, much more interested in iPods, consumerism and stimulants than changing their society. Maybe our rulers have won and managed to produce a generation only suitable to make them richer by consuming their ultimately unsatisfying products.

See http://www.aparking.co.uk/.
See also the full-page legal notices in the Sussex Express for new Experimental Traffic Orders (? or similar) e x p a n d i n g the parking tax to out-lying farms and fields (soon France?), where at the foot of each notice it says that any objections to plans to make the parking taxes permanent & long-term & immortal, should be sent to Alpha Parking Ltd (not to ESCC or any other taxation body).

I'm up for a riot!. This government have taxed us till we squeak and then taxed us some more. So called green taxes are beyond a joke. If it goes on much longer I'm gonna quit my job because why should i work when pretty much my entire wage is giving over to a useless, greedy, wastefull bunch of charlatans.

I'm also up for a riot and the biggest, hugest end of the world party. Riot, loot, burn, scream, pillage and other Norse things. What's there to loose? I am taxed to the hilt just to breathe and it looks like our wonderful rulers are not even going to start adressing the rather short future our planet has
Nothing to loose... a few parking meters... that's just the start.
