Would anyone, Lewesian or non-Lewesian, like to tell me which types of large influx may be the most unwelcome in Lewes?
Developers seem to be trying to build an awful lot of new housings, and wondering who they are for, and to which new "immigrants" people who care about Lewes may object the most, get most annoyed by?
It was a bit confusing as expensive charles style style housing gets opposed, which I presume DFLs who can afford to pay for the rent will move in, yet there might be underlying conservative mentality in Lewes against people who may cause "disruption," generally cannot go beyond affordable housing?
Am I confused for no good reason?
Just trying to understand Lewes better, and what kind of community I shall expect if I move there... perhaps very different for each estate / neighborhood?

We definitely don't want any more of those utterly awful developers coming to Lewes.

Yes that would be utterly tragic. We'd all be up in arms bearing in mind we're all 100% born and bred in Lewes (except the DFL's obviously). Developers mean change and, in Lewes, change is the 2nd worst swear word. Diversity being the 1st.

I'd like to see more North Koreans, Lewes just doesn't have enough of them and the odd Eskimo wouldn't go amiss either

White, liberal, affluent, middle-class and from anywhere more than a few miles away seems to be pretty unpopular.

Those with jobs and the intention to spend money in the town should be welcome.

God save dfls, they are the only ones who have any money to spend employing tradespeople. I have never understood why people think they have a right to a cheap house in a town just because they were born or brought up here. People are travelling thousands of dangerous miles to get to this country in order to work, why can't these moaners find somewhere that fits their budget, failing that learn to do something of value to others.... if someone as thick as me can do it it aint rocket science

Surely diversity is what makes a town an interesting place to live? Heaven forbid if Lewes was only full of the small minded ignoramuses banging on about DFL's for ever and a day. Anyone should be welcome who wants to live in Lewes because they appreciate what a unique and lovely place it is to live, regardless of where they are from. People need to stop being so territorial about this town.

I know what you mean Twonk, but surely the more 'diverse' a place is then the less 'unique' it becomes. 'Unique' means 'unlike anywhere else' to me, not 'like everywhere else'. See also, 'clone town'.
