If this is a nicey nicey , stopover gig in our nice town full of nice people and just seems like they (Mumford ) want to do nice things , why are there 25,000 tickets that's nearly 2 each , as I believe lewes population 17,000 ok 1 point something each , if just 5000 come by car/camper/clapped out merc vans with wood burners , and lets say 5 in each , where will 1000 cars go , I guess tesco car park might hold 250 , so 4 sites that size , I'm sure it's going to be a very enjoyable weekend , "Don't stand so close to me "

Is it a dream or a prophecy that Lewes District/ESCC may develop a park and ride at
this event and be the forerunner for a new parking scheme?

There's been a couple of comments on other (now full) threads that I wanted to clear up regarding the councillor's involvement, purely so that we all keep our facts straight:
This came to a liscencing sub-committee of three councillors on the 22nd April. I just wanted to make that clearer as a previous comment made it sound as though only three had bothered to turn up to a full meeting. At that meeting our officers were given delegated powers to grant the licence and deal with the conditions attached, including enforcement of them.
It also came to the trustees of the Mountfield Pleasure Ground Trust (ie, Lewes District Councillors) on the 20th March. Councillors were given five days notice of that meeting by email. I'm afraid I wasn't able to attend due to personal reasons so can't tell you how many councillors were in attendence. I have asked for the minutes of that meeting but haven't had them yet.
A few people have asked how much money LDC will be charging the organisers of the event. As far as I can make out, we will be recieving between £7,500 and £10,500 for lease of the land. That money will be spent on restoring the land to its previous condition and making improvements if the budget allows it.
Hope that helps!

So you are saying LDC have so little commercial nous that not only do you seriously undercharge (£10k ish for an event which will likely turn over £2 million +) but you can't even put a clause in the agreement to make the organisers responsible for the cost of reinstatement? No wonder this town is in a mess with a council displaying such ineptitude!

On 14 May 2013 at 11:13pm Cllr Donna Edmunds wrote:
Ah no, sorry: the organisers ARE responsible for protecting the land and making good any damage; the (up to) £10,500 will be spent on maintaining or improving the land.

Perhaps I should just shut up and stop trying be a council spokesperson when I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about! Perhaps I should just address people to the propper channels, instead of rabble rousing on this home of malcontents.

Whoa way way to harsh! Nick is just trying to assist with letting Lewes people be free to enjoy the festival at their convenience and he is doing a bloody good job. I hope Dim gets trapped in somewhere with nothing but his own vile thoughts.

Following a positive meeting yesterday with Jenny Rowland ( Chief Ex of LDC) I am pleased to confirm that I am hopeful a compromise has been reached and look forward to a press release within the next 2 hours.
Now let's be kind, collaborative and positive and have an awesome weekend x

That's great news , now should we talk about why we had to get here via this route , why did we have to get slack Alice (rowland ) to visit a pub under duress to get things near to being right , when she's paid a huge salary to do this first time round ? Once again our inept leaders are not leaders at all . Now shall we look in her waste bins for any discarded brown envelopes ,

That is exactly right. I completely agree. And residents should also wonder why it is that Ms Rowlands thinks that this is how things are done as a general management style. I have no idea what is in her bin, but rather a lot of Councillors need to apologise for not checking her rubbish, but leaving the job to residents instead.

Wow. Dim and Cllr Stupid. Feels so terribly sad that I have to even type this. The restaurant closed seven years, me and my wife separated by agreement and are still best friends and the Cllr's mum and I broke up eighteen months ago. Relevance?
Only surprised you didn't drag my daughter into this.
If these pretty nauseating posts are from anybody inside LDC and it is being said so many times now, it has to be given credence, then every single question about conduct can be quadrupled.
As for what I' m doing to help. Viv asked me to chair Tuesday's meeting, I was going to attend the meeting with the council, but reasonably it was limited to three local businesses, I have been asked to moderate the Facebook group and I contacted a friend at Universal music and asked them to bring pressure on GOTR.
What would you like to do tomorrow btw?
I will not lie. I have a problem with LDC over this, but I'm happy to wait till August when we've all had a nice weekend.

And Lewes won.
So I don't have to keep annoying you all anymore.
