I don't expect everyone to be perfect, but where are people's basic manners these days? Nose picking (sorry), sneezing without even trying to stifle it and worst of all, chopsing away noisily on a sandwich in a quiet station waiting room, finished by a loud burp and a sniff. Or am I just too sensitive?

I awkwardly held a door open for someone much older than me the other day. She walked through without even looking at me. I shouted thank you in her general direction and she looked round puzzled. I thought it was meant to be young people who had no manners.

I was in a station waiting room the other day, happily chomping away at my sarnie, rounding off with satisfying belch and congratulatory sniff. Some bloke took umbrage! Of all the cheek!

Manners seem to go completely out of the window when people are commuting, pushing shoving every man or woman for themselves. No shivalry such as giving seats up for the infirm etc.
