Lincolns is/was up in the high street just along from the Crown Courts, next to the alley that leads to Castle Ditch Lane. It was The Rainbow pub for many years, but changed a year or so ago.

It's had various incarnations since being The Rainbow. I think it was a zel bar at some point.
Perhaps it will become a hairdressers next.......

Nooooo! It was only ever acceptable to go to Lincoln's after everywhere had closed, but it was the last refuge for the desperation drinker. Standard bloke procedure: three or four pubs, a curry, then where do you go for a last one for the road? Lewes is ruined.

At 8.30pm tonight, Friday, Lincolns was not open. A single cleaner's bucket rested upon a table near the front window stage right, darkly lamenting its solitude.

You often get long queues at Nero while over the road Lincolns also selling coffee is empty which I always found strange.

How sad...no more earplugs for me at closing time, and now I'll have to find something else to do on Sat and Sun am (was usually mopping vomit from my high st front door). I shall miss the classy clientele! Olde English tea-room would be nice or a shop selling painted twine always goes down well.

At Orange Soda.....why buddy? This home has been in my family for over 50 years, when I took it on 20 years ago the H'S was noisy and that I don't mind. Why should i move!!!! I just object to the drunken idiots that have been attracted to Rainbow/Lincolns. Let me add quickly though it's only ever been a small number of the patrons. That's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it. If you don't like it I'm sorry (not)

It was a dump as the rainbow. The first pub to become regular for small time drug dealers.
Perhaps the owners of the Snow Drop could take it on.
Its in a great position. I don't like theme pubs but being so close to a famous court should influence its decor etc.
We do not want to see another pub disappearing for ever.

So tango one minute you say no more ear plugs the next you don't mind the noise, well which is it? I'm not saying move but if you live next to a pub you should expect that! Agree with kings drug dealers comment at least Lincolnshire got rid of that clientele!

Twenty years ago people left the pub at 11ish,was it?Different time ,different society. What he probably meant was, that once they came out noisy at that earlier hour,he was able to settle down to sleep! Not so now, pubs open much later, tanked up people hanging around and being loud and being a nuisance. As I said, different times, different attitudes, and very little thought for others.

Some people have short memories. In the 1980s Friday and Sat night from 11 to midnight were fight nights in Lewes, mainly around Lansdown Place and Star Corner.
